We will be traveling to Florida in January and have a question. If going thru Jacksonville around 10AM is it better to just stay on I-95 or take I-295 around.

I used to live there. Unless things have changed, the traffic will be fairly light at 10 am. The bypass is good too. I wouldn't hesitate to just stay on I-95.

Traffic through the middle of town shouldn't be bad at that time of day. I would be more concerned about construction zones. Florida DOT should have a website that shows interstate construction.

I-295 is a long way around. Things haven't changed at all. 10 am will be a good time to come through as would most any other time. Unless there is an accident, I-95 south is almost always a speed limit ride. Traffic worry is a joke as is our town... Now I-10 is another story at rush hour.

Take 9A whose entrance is just past the airport. Much easier and takes you right back down to I-95 and southbound.

TDD is right. Been through Jax many times. Go 9A even off rush hour.

9A is the best option. I travel this way many times in my RV. Great view of the port when going over the bridge!

9A has been rebadged 295. It runs EAST of 95. It's the way to go. Great scenery too.
Old 295 is longer, slower and has more traffic than 95.

If you think Jax is a joke and you regret that you live here, why don't you leave? Just saying........
