My old motorhome would smell like that when the grey tank was not clean. I believe that soapscum or the like would build up in it from the shower and it would smell like rotten eggs.

You would only notice this when the coach was in motion.

A flush with bleach and water would fix the smell.

Feel for heat around your batteries and disconnect them IMMEDIATELY if they're hot. Internal short will generate hydrogen sulfide gas and it is explosive.

Battery meter says full charge and is operating everything fine. The battery that has acid on top does appear bulged, and I know it did not freeze this year. Perhaps I'll take back to Sams in morning and have them checked. Thanks, Ifigure its the cat converter or batteries

Looking at the batteries, if theirs liquid on top It's not a good sign.

Check what your converter is putting out it can be bad and cooking the battery, BEFORE you put the new battery in. That's what I ultimately found out.....after 3 service calls.

I agree with rockhillmanor. If your new batteries are boiling over, I think your converter might be cooking them.

Isolate it first. Plug it in and check the battery temp after about 15 or 20 minutes. See if the battery is hot. If not check it after another 15 minutes. If it was after you shut off the engine, it could be your alternator or alternator connections. Test both and keep and eye on the battery.

Ultimately if it is not the battery, then could be propane, but propane smells more like a dead animal than a rotten egg. Rotten egg is battery.

Daveinet is right on the money on this one. Be very careful if it is propane, very explosive. But I think it is your battery boiling.

rotten egg smell is the catalytic converter.
the air fuel ratio is off for the engine… so the converter is having to work harder to clean up the exhaust.. the same smell can be observed after a full power run, like pulling a hill or a speedy onramp merge..
a bad tank of gas or old gasoline will also cause the converter to smell excessively.
if after using up the current tank of gas and refilling with a different brand.. if the problem continues, have your engine serviced/repaired. as the converter will get very hot while being used this way…and your engine performance and mileage will be below normal..

HRAM, I just finshed replacing my engine starting batteries for this very problem. I no longer have the smell. Two of the batteries had failed, the remaining two were starting the engine. I noticed a big difference in the cranking speed with the four new batteries. Hope this helps
