The Carryout will work with various receivers from both Dish and DirecTV. The Tailgater only works with one model Dish receiver, and no DirecTV receivers. The Carryout can be configured to use the Dish eastern arc sats, the Tailgater cannot. The Carryout costs more than the Tailgater.

There's a new kid in town: the Anser.

Features:

- Dish (SD & HD) and DirecTV (SD only)

- Semi-automatic (elevation must be set, Anser handles the rest)

- Can receive Dish Western Arc (110, 119, 129) and Eastern Arc (72) sats.

- Supports 2 receivers.

I've heard from different sources that DirecTV is working on a portable automatic dish. I wonder if Winegard will badge this product for them? There are two things I don't like about it, the external power source and the manual adjust for the elevation. The tailgater uses the power through the coax to operate and adjusts asmuth and elevation for a truly automatically setup. Still it is an interesting product and I can't wait to read the customers reviews. Thanks for posting the link!

Sometimes, you get what you pay for....... We bought a VuCube 2000, which is basically a tailgater with additional features.

1. It will connect to any satellite company with any receivers.
2. You turn it on and it finds and connects to the satellites you program it for and will switch between satellites as necessary.
3. On the downside, it still can only connect to one satellite at a time, so you can only watch multiple programs, or record one and watch another if they are both on the same say.
4. Lastly, it is about 2X the price of the Tailgater, but you are buying flexibility and convenience.

Only locks on one sat so you better be happy with the programming on that sat. On another thread a link was posted for DISH that shows programming for each sat. The DISH 72 sat has pretty much but very few locals and no distant locals if you have to use sat for the broadcast channels.
A deal breaker for me.
