Good Morning-

It is possible that the heater in my T.T. will only work if its plug into a 30amp?

Thanks in advance....

No it should be able to function in 12v mode as well.

Hi,

It would be unusual. What make and model is the furnace?

What you suggest is possible IF your battery is dead or if the fuse protecting the battery is blown. The thermostat and the fan motor run off of 12 volt power as does the spark ignighter and with no 12 volt power they will not work. That power can come from a fully charged battery or from the converter/charger and of course the converter only works when plugged into 120 volt AC power. It has to be one of the two.

It could be a battery problem and running off the converter when plugged in,

or it could be a AC furnace and not 12v at all…
According to his signature he has a destination trailer…

If your furnace is designed for 120V and 12V it should work on 12V as long as you have good power running to it. Check your battery and the 12V connections at the furnace. With a good battery bank it should last a night or two, depending on how it would cycle to keep you warm.

Something else to think about. I am big proponent of using electric heat to supplement the furnace. This allows you to cut or reduce our LP use and still keep the trailer nice and warm. In the spring as places like WalMart, Kmart, Target, etc... start to clearence their little space heaters you can pickup a nice one for less than $10. It's also real hand to have just in case you run out of LP
