The TT is out front, the frig chilling down and our pooch Millie, is going spastic having seen the trailer and knowing we're going camping again. This will be our last trip this year and not because the season is ending. Camping is year a round pleasure here in Arizona albeit at lower elevations for the duration of fall and winter. Once again "I" am the problem....

I'm scheduled for a full knee replacement surgery down at the VA hospital in Tucson on October 17th. Hope to be 100% and back out camping my mid January in time for our annual trip to Quartzite for the RV show and all of the other craziness. Not looking forward to the procedure and the intense rehab that follows but to have a fully functional knee again after 30 years of pain will be worth it. We're off to Lost Dutchman State Park in Apache Junction, temps should be upper 80's to low 90's and we have a great site with hook ups reserved. If you're in the neighborhood stop by #26 and say hi. Chances are good I'll have a cold one with your name on it.

Hey Desert Captain.......

First off, THANKS for your service!!

Here's wishing you a fast and full recovery.
Work it hard during that rehab.

Hoping one day I can do the 'Steve Austin' rebuild myself.

Everyone I know, my hubby included, say they are sorry they waited so long. It will be difficult through rehab but well worth it in the end.

being 58 years old and already having had 6 knee surgeries since i was 30, i know that this is in my future.

good rehab is the secret to success, along with a good surgery.
i had ACL reconstruction to my left knee, 15 years ago and the rehab really made the difference. had to work harder than i ever had before but it did the trick.

Desert Captain. 2 years ago I had a knee replacement, and yes, the rehab is the pits. But it really is worth it. 32 years of pain for me and 8 operations...solved by a replacement. Do it and don't look back. You will kick yourself on day 6 (after the pain meds wear off) and beat yourself silly after each PT session. But...by day 21 or so you'll be on your way. You will make that trip in January. Maybe I'll see you there...
Blessings, Mark.

My DW had a full knee replacement August 14 and is now walking almost normally, although not quite ready for hiking trails yet. Keep up the therapy and exercises, and no doubt all will be well by trip time.

I had both knees done at the same time---4 days in the hospital, 2 weeks in a rehab facility (3 hours a day of PT and OT) and home, able to go up and down stairs, albeit slowly. It's a tough couple of weeks initially, but you'll be so glad you had it done.

Good luck with your surgury.

I started my winterization today for just about the same reason. I have a full ankle replacement scheduled in two weeks. No weight bearing for 12 weeks following surgury means I have a lot of chores to get done before my hospital visit. Oh well keeps my mind off the future
