We really liked Horse Thief Campground. very nice place located just outside Hill City on Needles HWY. Lots to do in the area. The Black Hills are my favorite area!

Thanks for all the replys! We booked two sites today at Hill city KOA. We won't even be going till mid july but wanted to make sure we can get a good site. Thinking about hitting the "mall of america" on the way back.

Stayed at Rafter J Bar for 2 weeks back in '07. Very nice park and I'd recommend it with no reservations (but you better have some if your going). You can take a look at my review of this park at this link:
