Well... as we prepare to take our new Phoenix Cruiser out for an overnight "shakedown", I had the propane tank filled. The gentleman said he filled it to the max and I should be good to go for awhile. I brought the coach home and turned the tank on so that I could get the refrigerator cooled overnight. When I turned it on, the propane just ket coming out from the open/closed knob. Anyone have any clue what is happening here. Thanks in advance for your help.

Go to the propane tank and turn the propane off. You have a leaky valve and several different ways it can kill you. Get to a repair source and have the valve replaced then have the propane system checked and certified.

I just checked the gauge and see that it reads FULL... isn't supposed to be filled only 80 percent. You think it's safe to bleed off to 80 percent.

It sounds like the packing nut is backing out with the fill knob when you turn it on. If this is so, get a crescent wrench and tightn the packing nut until the leak stops, test with soapy water in a spray bottle, spray and look for bubbles around the valve. If no bubbles you got it. But to be sure take it back to the propane dealer that filled it.

Full is apprx. 80%. Even if it's overfilled it shouldn't leak at the valve. You may be able to tighten the big nut which is right below
the turn knob. If this doesn't do it you need a new valve.

Thanks everyone, for all your help. I did go out and look /bleed the valve again and found that the leak appears to be coming from under that "box" to the right of the valve. I think it's best to have it looked at before I go out with it.

The tank is only supposed to be filled to 80% period. If it is overfilled the expanding gas fluid can trash the pressure regulator creating a very dangerous condition. When the fluid is filled it is cooled as it is processed, then can expand considerably as it then warms to outside temps.
I had the same situation one time when a newby overfilled ours and it took quite a while to bleed of the extra through the little bleed level valve until vapor appeared at it instead of fluid. I was lucky enough to notice the problem before I turned the tank valve on to the system regulator.

Is the bleeder set screw closed? It is opened during the filling process.
