We are trying to figure out where the campground is located, that runs along the Pacific Coast Highway, where the RV's park inline along the beach. It is somewhere between Santa Monica and San Francisco. Would like the location and name of campground. Thanks

Rincon Parkway in Ventura is probably the one you are thinking about. But there are others - like at Pt Magu-Thornhill.

It could be Thornhill Broome.

Here is what it looks like, you can even look at each campsite.

Thornhill Broome

Hard to get reservations in summer but sometimes during the week or offseason it is empty.

Agree with other posters, it's either Rincon (Ventura County Park) or Thornhill Broome (CA state park). You can also see some of Emma Wood State Park along the 101, just north of Ventura and south of the Rincon.

Rincon Parkway is first come first to get a spot. If you want a spot for a weekend you need to get there on Wednesday or early Thursday and hope.

It's a good place for an overnight stop Sunday through Wednesday provided you arrive before 3PM.

X2. We live about 2 hrs south of there. Rincon Parkway as noted above is further north in Ventura county on PCH. The other is Thornhill Broome on PCH in Malibu as also noted. Malibu is south of Ventura, maybe an hour at the most. Booth are interesting and fun from time to time but be warned if it's crowded you might not be able to get into a spot unless you're excellent at parallel parking a truck and long travel trailer.

Pros: you're right on the beach. Cons: getting into a site can be dicey. We didn't have any problem the last time we stayed at Thornhill Broom a few months ago.

You can google earth both of them and get the idea.

X2. Check out Faria Beach. Nice CG with full hookups. Most all of the Ventura camprounds "were" first come first served. But do some checking, Cachuma Lake (same region) now takes reservations and never did before. So I could be wrong. Maybe Faria takes reservations now. I'd stay there before Rincon or Thornhill. On the other hand, Thornhill does take reservations through Reserve America.

BTW, if you really want to check out spectacular, look into Jalama Beach in that same area. They now take reservations took, but I suspect they'd have to be made far in advance.

Rincon Parkway is NOT a campground. if you are thinking of a campground, then it has to be Thornehill Broome, which is a real campground. Rincon is simply parking spaces, on the shoulder, along the old PCH.

and Faria and Hobson, which are real campgrounds, are REALLY difficult to get.
