In the process of buying a 2012 Allegro private sale owner has it financed, says I can pay him and he will write out a bill of sale to take DMV (Florida) will accept and register the motorhome he said I would only need a title when I sell it. In NJ you must have the previous title signed by seller, in order to register and pay the sales tax.

Regards

Frank

NO DON'T DO IT!!! You haven't given a lot of info, but this has scam written all over it. If you give the money to him and he doesn't pay the loan off, then you'll never get a title and the lien holder will come and take the motorhome from you. You need to work with his lien holder and only write a check to them. I do know there are companies out there who offer an escrow service, but I've never used one. Basically you give the money to them and they pay off the lien and hold the money until the title is properly received and turned over to you, then they pay any left over money to the seller.

I believe you will need permission from the lienholder. They will need to be paid off before the owner can sell. At least that is how it's been on anything we have owned that had a title with a lienholder. There is no way I would give him the money - it should be going to the lienholder so get them to sign off on the title.

When I bought a coach under similar conditions in FLORIDA, I paid the lending company direct. As it turned out, the seller also had to pay the lending company his share of the payoff.
In any case, once the loan was paid, the lending company contacted the DMV, ELECTRONICALLY, removing the lien from the coach. The coach was still in the sellers name at this point. The seller and I then made a trip to a Florida DMV office(it can be any FL office) and he asked for a copy of the title. We got the title, he signed it over, and the transfer was complete.
Fl uses electronic titles so once you leave the DMV, you will have a physical title in your name, printed on the spot.

Do it like buying a house. Find an escrow agent and the agent will be able to handle the funds, process the title and what ever else needs to be done. Most banks or credit unions can aid you in this endeavor.

You absolutely need to have the title. Talk to your bank, they will tell you how to proceed.

X-however many numbers you want

DO NOT give this person ONE dime unless you are setting in either your lawyers office or the office of the lender holding title.
