There is no way to effectively inspect all the wood being transported into CG’s… the bans are in place to protect the woodlands, and campers are the likely source of wood being transported INTO a forest and cause new infestations… If enough people choose to ignore the bans, they will do the next best thing and something much easier to enforce, that is to ban all wood fires… And one more time it will be the ignorant few that will ruin things for everyone… The sad part is, these people don’t care and will continue to do as they please until all fires are banned…

Trust me, people in the cooling unit repair Bus. and replacement love you attitude as it insures a steady income flow for them… The fact that they will work while out of level means nothing, the damage is seldom instant, the damage is slow and they normally just keep becoming less efficient before quitting… almost unnoticeable at first… it seems RV refrigeration repair companies are as busy as ever since the newer design, maybe more so in the area of fires over failure… maybe it’s because people take this higher tolerance of out-of-level to literally… There are only three requirements for the proper and safe operation of a absorption fridge and they haven’t changed and are just as important today as they ever were… they are… THREE REQUIREMENTS - FOR PROPER OPERATION 1. Level 2. Air Flow (Good Ventilation) 3. Heat (Precise heat) The only question on level is the level of risk you are willing to assume…

Absorption fridges are completely dependent on gravity to function, and the rate of the fluids flow is determined by the size and angle of the tubes decent… optimum performance happens when the fridge is level, and there is only one level… operating out of level slows the cycling of the fluid… slowing the cycle allows the fluid in the boiler to become hotter because the heat source is constant and consistent… The fluid consist of ammonia, water and rust inhibitors… when the solution is over heated because of slower cycling fluids the rust inhibitors chemically break down and crystallize… this condition is cumulative and permanent… when crystallization becomes to high it can plug the tubes and stop the solution from flowing and/or it renders the rust inhibitor less and less effective and it shortens the useful life of the fridge… this can happen on either heat source… Newer units are built the same way the older ones are but they are more tolerant to out of level conditions… more tolerant wouldn’t mean the risk is eliminated and non-existent it only means the damage caused is slowed… that was done by isolating the siphon pump tube from the heat source by placing it inside the boiler… Mfg’s say it can be operated with the RV comfortably level… that will in all likelihood get it beyond the warranty period… but in their warranty listed as non-covered is, “WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER” “Non operation of the refrigerator/freezer or resultant damage to the unit where the refrigerator/ freezer has been operated in an out of level situation. “ there is no way to measure the damage caused by out of level operation or how quickly that damage will adversely effect its operation until it finally fails… As expensive as they are, I choose not to risk causing any damage that is avoidable by something I have control over like leveling…

There are a couple other solutions, but definatly more expensive than what the OP did. I'm guessing the problems occured when trying to get over the wheel wells. The first way would be to take the P/U bed off and put a flat bed on and the other would be to use one of these decks that load themselves. The decks are a great way to carry two snowmachines or four wheelers on the back of a pick-up. A friend uses one to carry his Polaris Razor side by side on his pick-up which is also his toad. Removing it shouldn’t be hard to figure out… disconnect, remove and cap the gas line, remove and tape the wires… maybe patch a hole in the floor if it has under the floor fixed ductwork… Now moving it could get pretty involved…

it should be fastened under the gutter strip or some kind of molding for the entire perimeter and the strip be sealed and caulked to prevent leaking… if I read your description correctly the calk will prevent the leak now but it is sure to fail at some point in the not too distant future…

It is a DEFECT and should be repaired… it is not normal and shouldn’t be ignored or just monitored… no edge of the membrane should be exposed and just covered with caulking…

Another thing to remember, there are many axles that go un-serviced for a very long time and never have a bearing failure… many autos reach the junkyard with OE bearings still in them, never serviced ... Yes, but all modern autos use sealed bearings that you never have to service. They exist for trailers, I see Dexter makes axles with sealed bearings, but I've never seen a trailer using them. Another pet peeve of mine, along with the general lack of self-adjusting brakes. Our trailers are just dinosaurs. Yes the modern autos are using double sealed bearings or sealed bearing cartridges, but I am referring to the standard old bearing sets, where the only time they were serviced is when they went bad often after many years… once the removable disk brake rotor was incorporated and the hub no longer was pulled to do a brake job, many if not most of these went from new to graveyard without a bearing failure or bearing service… the same with the rear bearings, many went from new to graveyard without so much as a rear end oil change… I am not sure the new never lube used In autos will work as well… I already know of to many that were noisy and had to be replaced… I have extensively used (permanently sealed) double sealed bearings as replacements to the standard bearings in my off road cross country race bikes… they worked great for running in extreme wet and muddy conditions… As much as I like the never lube bearings, I don’t care for the cartridge type used in RV axles… I believe the bearings sit to close and don’t hold up well enough to the side load stress placed on them…

always start simple, cheap, and the most common… for DC circuits that would be a bad ground and dirty connections… then go from there…
