RE: Need your input...........what do you think?
I thought if we ever downsized, that a Sprinter chassis (Winnebago View or similar) would be nice with one slide. I like the floor plan with the full living room AND dinette on the main level but wonder if climbing in the over-cab bed might get tiring. A friend of mine rents one almost every year when we meet in Quartzsite and I'm surprised at how much living room space there is in a 25 ft. coach and it gets great mileage. The tanks are small for boondocking though.

Fossilhound, I too could have sworn I saw our transmission dipstick when the coach was new. Then when I went to check it after the first transmission service, there was no dipstick. I had a friend check to see if it was in the tube but he couldn't find it. So, maybe it was never there?
The shop always checks the fluid from the transmission pad. I would like a dipstick though, just haven't gotten around to getting one. After 6 yrs. of ownership, I probably won't, LOL!

The Magnadyne radio can't get radio reception 10 ft. from a big city. We use the 10 CD changer all the time or the single in dash player for a different selection. I have not bought a subscription to Sirius as I just can't pay for radio! Our new Honda came with Sirius for several months but I listen to NPR 99% of the time. Another car we have has lifetime Sirius for free so I keep it on classical Sirius or NPR.
One of these days I'm going to change out that junky Magnadyne with a real radio but it's not at the top of my list until it breaks.

I bet it's a Magnadyne (sp?)... I'm not at the motorhome to look at ours but since you haven't gotten a response, I'll make an attempt.
On the right side of the radio, the second button from the bottom (can't think of what the name of the button), you push and hold it until the time flashes. The bottom round button on the left side will set the time, turn it right, it sets the minutes, turn it left, it sets the hour.

We have bearings on the front so no hub oil. We just need to have them done every 30,000 miles which is coming up at our 60,000 mile service. We DO have hug oil on the rear axle which is checked every 5,000 miles when I have he chassis lubed.

If you have any intention of keeping the tires, I would have them inspected by a heavy duty tire company by taking them off of the rims. That will give you piece of mind if they pass their visual test by looking inside the tire.
Personally, I wouldn't prefer Goodyear's as I had friends have trouble with them but yours are like new. That's why I would have them looked over really good and use them maybe for another year or so.
I have ordered new Michelin's using the FMCA program that should arrive at the end of this month replacing my current Michelin's with 57,700 miles. I'm just leaning on the 'safe' side replacing them at 7 yrs. as my date codes run from the 20th-42nd week of 2006.

Mr. Chuckles, I am totally stumped as I have the same toilet and am very curious to what the answer will be.
I know on 'our' toilets, if you press both electric buttons, it will empty the toilet bowl for travel (which we don't normally do). I'm thinking it has something to do with the switch because your water flow is normal at the sinks/shower.
I wish you luck and will be looking forward to seeing the diagnosis.

Actually, the opposite.... run the heater! I made that mistake when having our home carpets cleaned in the heat of a summer (years ago). I, too, thought that running the air-conditioning would help them dry faster... .it took absolutely forever.
I turned off the air and let the upstairs heat up.... they were dry in no time at all. The heat will dry the carpets.
To the OP, I would contact my insurance company too. I have a feeling the carpet will need to come up to see if there was any floor damage.
Let us know what happens.

Do what you want. I would run AC. The AC will reduce the humidity and cool the room/RV. Here in south Florida there is plenty of heat and humidity-the perfect breeding ground for mold. Mold will not grow in a cool low humidity environment. Turning on the heat will increase the humidity and heat the room/RV creating the perfect environment for mold (at least here in south Florida.
As I said in MY situation, I ran the AC to no avail. I had wet cold carpets. Once I let the room heat up to over 90 degrees, the carpet was dry and shrunk back tight.
I guess it depends on your situation and climate. If I had a flood, which we didn't, I would pull the carpets up to dry the floor. I would let it stay hot until the wood was dry.

John, since I've known our tires since the odometer had 75 miles on it, I know exactly how they have been treated. At 7 yrs. (date codes read from the 20th-42nd week of 2006) and 57,700 miles. I'm getting new tires at the end of the month from Pete's Road Service in Coachella, CA. I already placed my order through the FMCA Michelin program.
Personally, if I were you, I would have the tires inspected at a big truck facility and see what they say. They will have to come off the rim for a really good inspection. You might even want to rotate a dually set to the front if you have any wear on the front (if given the 'passed' vote).
I received a bad alignment once from Colton Truck Terminal in Colton, CA, and didn't realize it until I was almost 2,000 miles from home. I started to get severe wear on both of the inner front tires. I found a reputable big truck facility in Nashville (TAFA-Tire Alignment Frame and Axle)....I think it was the most perfect alignment I've ever had. They had to add a plate to the front suspension for a perfect alignment.
It was 6 months before I could get back to Colton so I never worried about a refund, etc. I certainly didn't want them to ever align it again. They have been really good in the past with oil changes, etc. But the alignment and then them not being able to fix my dash 3 times, but charged me for each visit, was the last straw. I go to Redlands Truck Service in Redlands where they fixed my dash air the first time and now the repair is a year and half old and running strong. They won a customer.

Shane, I'm sure a 'tech' person while chime in soon. If the units are original, they may not be good anymore (31 yrs. old). Have you owned the coach very long? DId they ever work for you?

-what kind of coach and year?
-what brand of air conditioners?
-what amp of shore power?
-what brand of thermostat?

We have 8 house batteries as our coach is all electric. I have four batteries each on two trays that pull out. So, it was easy to check the water level. On average, I would add a little every two months. I never wanted the water level to expose the plates as I've always heard that is almost instant death to the battery.
After watering my 7 yr. old batteries for 6 years, I decided to purchase all new AGM batteries that require no water. The old batteries would sulfate and had started to rust the battery trays. So, when the new batteries were installed, they cleaned and repainted the trays so everything is fresh and new looking.
It was a committment ($$$) to go from wet cell to AGM but I felt it was worth it as leaning over the batteries checking each '3 section' cell level put a strain on my lower back that just killed me. There are just certain motions that I can't do without major pain. I can wash and wax the coach from top to bottom with no problems.
I think more than anything, I hated the sulfating of the old batteries.

One of my least favorite things to do is fuel up. I don't care if fuel is cheaper 200 miles down the road, I'm filling up to the brim if I'm stopping for fuel. I like to get it done and not worry about it for the next 600-700-800 miles. I guess we could go 1,200 miles if I ran it to empty but we start looking for a fuel stop at half a tank and try to fill up by 1/4 tank if we can.
But, I always fill to the brim as I said, that's my least favorite thing to do. I will even tilt the coach to the passenger side to add more fuel. I can drive 100 miles before the needle even starts to move.

Just call the Michelin program, don't wait on an email. I just ordered 8 Michelin ZXE 295/80R/22.5 on the FMCA program to be purchased at the Pete's Road Service center in Coachella, CA. I called Pete's first to see if they were in the program and they said yes.
I'll have them installed at the end of May when I'm in that area. That particular Pete's location has given me alignments and tire rotations so I was a little familiar with their business. They told me that Michelin was running a new batch of the tires that I requested so they should be fresh (less than a month old?). I'll accept up to the 3 months old but not older.

Part of our adventure of trying to get gas was our encounters with eccentric and aggressive individuals at our stops. At several stops I was confronted and was mildly frightened by the experiences. I had my wife lock the door to the MH while we were stopped. Along our route and at our stops there appeared to be many apparent drug and alcohol challenged individuals. It was a truly sad situation.
I searched crime statistics for Eureka/Arcada and they are in the top 1% for crime in the US, and lead the country for cities their size in many categories. It is unfortunately a city that has lost control.
In the 57,000 miles that we have driven all over this country, I have not had that experience. Of course, tomorrow is a new day. Sorry to hear of your situation. It can certainly 'taint' an area when a bad experience occurs.
