RE: Bemidji, MN

For those of you who have stayed at the Bemidji State Park, would I need reservations for a week night in July?

Bemidji, MN

Looking for suggestions in and around Bemidji MN for next summer. We would like electricity but water and sewer hookups aren't necessary.

Crooked Creek Campground

Happy New Year! Beginning to look at the summer plans. Has anyone stayed at Crooked Creek Campground in Alberta, just outside of Waterton Lakes.? Thinking about that CG or Waterton Springs just north of there. Lynn

which campground would you choose?

We are planning a trip to Glacier NP this summer. I understand that Many Glacier does not take reservations and that St Mary's does. That aside, and based on views and site quality, woud you have a preference for one over the other? Which one and why? Lynn

RE: Considering a HTT, but...

We just spent a week in Algonquin Park (Ontario) and the low temps were around 5. Which I think is around 40 degrees. We had the furnace on and were hot a few nights before we turned it down. You should be fine. It is possible to fold the table down and have them sleep on the dinette if you prefer.

Starting to pack

We're so excited to be going to Algonquin Park (Ontario) in 2 days!! We started getting the trailer ready to go and updating our lists. We're going for a week with 2 teenagers so wish me luck!

RE: Parry Sound to Drumheller in 3 days with kids?

We've done those kinds of days several times. When I was a kid and with my kids. I would say it depends on your family. We had fun! Did it in a car, van and pulling a Tent trailer. We made awesome memories including seeing the sun rise on the prairies when I was only 8.

RE: PEI.................2013 !

Stayed at Cavendish in the NP last year. It has fairly private sites with some trees. Not easy to find woodsy on the island. The beach was fabulous!!

RE: Help, camper is leaking!

In a really driving rain our HTT leaked through the airconditioning vent. Hasn't done it since. We figure it was just the angle of the rain.

RE: Drumheller Alberta - RV parks to stay?

Here are some of the pictures from our visit a few years ago. The aqua coloured popup was our trailer at the time. The other pictures were the views from our campsite. http://i1037.photobucket.com/albums/a453/nighttraveler/DSCI0607.jpg height=600 width=300 http://i1037.photobucket.com/albums/a453/nighttraveler/DSCI0603.jpg height=600 width=300 http://i1037.photobucket.com/albums/a453/nighttraveler/DSCI0587.jpg height=600 width=300

RE: Drumheller Alberta - RV parks to stay?

We love Dinosaur Provincial Park. We've been to Drumheller a few times stayed at HooDoo which was OK. BUT Dinosaur Provincial Park is one of our all time favourites. With 2 young active boys it was the best stay and hikes. We are planning a return trip next year.

RE: scottish couple needing some assistance

Just did a google maps route for you to see much of Ontario/NY state. Its was = Toronto - Niagara - Syracuse,NY - Watertown ,NY - Ottawa - Algonquin - Bobcaygeon - Toronto. It ended up to be 1267 km. To shave some kms off you could stay south of Algonquin but that would be a shame. IMHO this route would really give you the flavour of the area.

RE: setting up a HTT

We travel with 2 kids (teenageers now) and DH and myself. We always do set up and take down together. We often switch jobs so we all know everything. We setup in about 15 min now and it's a good team building exercise. I tow, although I must admit DH drive through Monteal :). We travel too many miles a day to have only 1 driver.

RE: Where to begin..

I would reiterate Bikendan's comments. Generally people who are happy with hybrids are people who love tent camping but wanted to get up off the ground or have some other conveniences such as a kitchen etc. We love our hybrid. We love the sounds at night, the openness of the bed when it's all opened up on a warm evening. A bonus the is the extra floor space and a relatively light load, but NOT the reason to buy. Just to counter some of the other posters, it's not a big deal to open up the ends when we get home if they are wet (even if it's still raining) it only takes about 3 minutes. We,ve owned a popup for 10 years and now our hybrid for 3, we've been all across Canada and the northern states (BC to Cape Breton) and never once had a leak or mold. There is some extra care involved in the tent ends but worth it to us. That's the decision you have to make.

RE: Bay of fundy

We stayed in the Fundy National Park campground and then went on to the Hopewell Rocks campground. We liked both of them for different reasons. Fundy was treed, had private sites and had great hiking trails. Hopewell was a family campground with a pool table the kids liked and coastal walks through wetland areas. Our site was right on the water I would stay in both again.
