Decided to stay with 06 Roadtrek Adventurous v. class A
After driving several 27-31 ft Class A coaches, including a 31 Holiday Rambler, we've decided that we'll stay with our 2006 Roadtrek Adventurous. The B Sprinter van is small enough to go anywhere, easy to maintain and store and gets an average of 22 mpg at 65 - 75 mph. We're travelers more than parkers, so the B works pretty well for us.
On nights we need more space, we'll go to a motel.
The sales people at the three area Camping World stores gave us all of the time and we wanted, as did other dealers we visited.
So, basically, we've confirmed the decision we made when we bought the Roadtrek.
RE: Colorado mountain passes
Used to drive underpowered trucks (heavily loaded Paystars w/DT 466) in that region. With those rigs, I would go to Walsenburg then take Hwy 160 west. Fairly tame to South Fork, (La Veta pass will be 9000+ ft) then you'll have Wolf Creek Pass. Definitely not as scenic as coming in from the north. Just about every pass into Durango will be 10,500 ft plus elevation unless you come in from NM.
Definitely the way to go. My first post and this one wiped out my comment. HOpe it sticks this time.
RE: New class c Unity 24 MB
Leisure Travel Unity MB looks interesting. But I'm thinking that the dealers aren't so willing to discount that unit, especially not at this time of the year. The 2013 units are in production. You can see a video on the 2013 over at the Sprinter.com board. Search "unity".

RE: It's been a year since .....
After a year, how do you like driving the Super C Endura? What chassis are you driving, and how's the ride and mileage?
RE: Do CW RV store web sites work for you?
I totally agree
We are working to fix the sites
We need them to be more nimble, have more info that's relevant and be more user friendly
Thanks for your response.
RE: Towing a Jeep Question (Newbie)
I can't believe the asking prices on 2004 Jeep Wranglers. Seem high. In demand but lots of them for sale on Craigslist.org.

RE: I'm back!! Traded Winnebago View for 2012 Roadtrek SS Agile!
I am so glad to be back in a class B! I made the mistake of trading my 2007 Roadtrek SS Agile for a 2011 Winnebago View 24J--lots more room, slide-out, etc. I hated it!! Tried to sell it for months--only got low-ball offers. I finally decided to trade it and take the loss, instead of looking at the View in the driveway knowing that if I had a class B, I could take it to Costco or Montana and park it almost anywhere! So, I found a 2012 Roadtrek SS Agile at a dealer that gave me a decent deal. I drove 550 miles to Lakeland, Florida, and picked it up Wednesday. I love it!
Since we're considering a View/Navion, what did you hate about the View? The Size, mileage, power, or what?
Thanks in advance.
I hated the size, mileage, power and the lack of ease driving a vehicle with dual rear wheels. I wanted all the extra space of the slide-out, and storage, but did not like having to pay to store the View when at my condo in Montana, or just sitting in the driveway here in Ocean Springs. I could park my old Roadtrek at the condo, but not the View. I like being able to use the Roadtrek to go to the store or sightsee. I was going to have to buy a car to drive in MT or maybe to tow. I did not enjoy driving the View, and it did not have the power I wanted to go over mountain passes. I just did not need all the amenities like the big frig and two sinks in the View. The automatic steps would refuse to come out at times and caused me lots of trouble in the Ozarks. Dealer could not find anything wrong with them. I was having to travel with a step stool just in case.
What I will miss is the diesel generator--loved that! I know lots of people love the View--just wasn't for me.
Just what we are thinking about. The tradeoffs. DW will be very interested in your experience. Thanks again.
RE: Do CW RV store web sites work for you?
btw, I have posted a question in the van forum about why someone has gone back to a Roadtrek because he doesn't like the Winnebago View.
RE: Do CW RV store web sites work for you?
Oldedit, who lit your fuse today? We all get it, you don't like Camping World. But I don't think you are going to change them overnight posting multiple threads on these forums. Maybe you should move on to something a little more obtainable, like world peace.
CW lit my fuse. It has stuff I may buy, services I may use and questions I'd like to have answered.
Why are you so offended by an honest discussion about an important industry player? Do you just not like strategy discussions, or are you in some way linked to someone who works for CW?
When people get defensive, beware.
btw. I owned a message board for years. When new members joined, old-timers who felt a strong ownership of the board sometimes got upset with questions about the board and me. I always welcomed the newcomers and answered their questions as best I could. Then folks settled down and moved on.
not being defensive but questioning the motives behind a member who joins and in 24 hours posts nothing other than how he thinks CW can be improved, why not just PM Marcus with all of your concerns and suggestions, he will get back to you, or you could just buy your own string of dealerships and run them the way you would like. However I am sure people will post that they don't like the way your dealerships operate either. good luck with your study, please post it when your done.
I know I look like a troll to old timers on the board. But go over to The RV Forum. You'll find that I've been posting there for some three years or more. And you'll find that my posts are constructive.
What I'm finding here, not totally to my surprise, is that the senior members are very attached to CW and Sams Club, to which we belong, and you don't like to see me summarize the complaints that have been posted on this very board as well as on other boards.
Such loyalty is appreciated by CW, but, I think, misplaced.
What I do give credit to CW for is their sponsorship of this board and the CEO's openness to questions and comments.
That is how Apple operates. And if you want to see real vicious trolls, visit the Apple support message boards. People there get pretty unhappy sometimes. Or, if you want to see complaints about products, visit the Winnebago forum at rvforum.net. Or try some of the user groups such as the Reyo/Via group on yahoo.com. Most people like those products, and others aren't so happy.
I always go to message boards to learn about products and services, recognizing that the unhappy folks are usually more outspoken than those who are happy with a product or service.
Meanwhile, do you really want to sanitize this board by allowing only :) faces? :)
RE: Do CW RV store web sites work for you?
Often dealers want you to call them since they can try to get you into the store. I think dealers lose more sales than they gain by requiring you to call. I never call if a car dealer doesn't list a price and says to call instead. I just move on to a dealer that lists the price.
Good post. I feel the same way.

RE: How does CW recruit, train, audit managers, technicians?
lets see new member 11 posts all about camping world, do you think he or she is on a mission - consider all of oldedit comments tainted.
As I noted, I've been posting on RV boards for more than three years. I"m posting about CW on it's board for obvious reasons.
1. I'm shopping at CW stores.
2. I'm seeing interesting things worth chatting about.
3. I want a better CW for myself and other customers.
Why are you so defensive? Do you or relatives work for or own CW?

RE: How does CW recruit, train, audit managers, technicians?
fla-gypsy, Would you be happier if CW ran a series of seminars or a school for its employes and certified them as CW-trained after they completed the training and passed some "real" tests administered in the class room and on the job?
RE: How does CW recruit, train, audit managers, technicians?
Please understand.
I"m not only interested in CW as a dealer where I may buy a motorhome and have it serviced. I'm also looking at it as an interesting strategic management and marketing case study.
RE: How does CW recruit, train, audit managers, technicians?
Francesca, If I find what I want at a given dealer, I'll buy it. If I think that dealer is not trustworthy, I will take my service business elsewhere.
Many motorhome and other RV buyers buy from out-of-town dealers and get their service near home or on the road as needed.
Just as the RV manufacturing business is an easy entry business, the RV service business is an easy entry business. There are many service alternatives. Many people take their service business to established shops that are run by the owners who are more likely to care and to take care of them than employes of national chains are.
