RE: Removing the AC condenser to change out the Radiator

One item to add to the instructions. The fan shroud has two bolts into the top of the radiator, that must be removed. Then the shroud can be lifted up and off of the clips on the bottom. These bolts are accessed from the dog house and are hard to see.
If you haven't ordered you new radiator yet, google part # 2691CBR to find the best price. Last month JC Whitney had the best delivered price, $560.00. I just finished installing my 1995 F53 radiator yesterday.
As a suggestion, remove the 2 block drain plugs to get all the old coolant out and then use distilled water when refilling the system. Tap water will lower the PH of the antifreeze to an unacceptable level. About 21 quarts for a complete refill.
As for the R134A refrigerant in your MH. If you can find an empty 30 lb. 134A container, put it in the freezer for 24 hours and it will accept almost all the the refrigerant in your system. You can then reuse the refrigerant, if you are certain that it is clean and dry.
Assuming that you have 134A gauges.

RE: What transmission do I have?

All F53s 1988 to 1997 were equipped with an E4OD transmission. The transmission case is designed for 4WD and uses the deep pan and long transmission filter tube. A ZF emergency brake is bolted to the flange where a transfer case in normally installed on 4WDs.
It has very slow, soft shifts and it's service life can be extended with a Banks Transcommander.

The Workhorse develops it's peak torque and horsepower at LOWER RPMs than the Ford.
INHO, lower RPMs = less engine wear.

Wrap a rag around the piston and hold it with you hand, then use a ½" impact wrench to loosen or tighten the bolt. The piston will turn in you hand but the impact wrench will shake the bolt loose or tight.

You got to love people that think outside the box. Type F transmission fluid has an additive package that enhances the friction characteristics of the fluid and makes the bands and clutches perform better. That cagey old transmission guy has his act together.

Horse power, Ford claims 15 HP more than the Chevy (less than 10 percent)
Torque: Ford claims the identical Peak Torque as the chevy (This is the more important figure by the way.
Observations by many: Ford engines are "High reving" that is the HP measurement was made at a higher RPM on the ford than the Chevy and that may account for the added 15 HP. Second, the Chevy develops peak torque much faster (lower RPM than the ford.
And where you really need peak torque is when the light turns green (That is at low RPM)
And for any given speed.. You are likely to be running lower RPM on the chevy.
All reasons why I prefer Chevy to Ford.. Now if you want to know how Chevy made me mad.. Well it was something the CEO said, has nothing to do with the engines, and since that's politics, I'll drop it now.
I would suspect that any gear head, including myself, would theorize that a 8.1 liter engine would get it torque at a much lower RPM than a 6.8 liter engine. But in the case of Ford 6.8 ver Chevy 8.1, Banks chassis dyonmeter does not agree. I see no reason why Gale Banks dyno results would be slanted.

So I suggest that torque not be a deciding factor when selecting the above mentioned engines.

Your windows were manufactured by Atwood Mobile Products. They have a replacement latch, with all the necessary hardware to install it.

Chris has it right. I rode dirt bikes for over 20 years and nothing lubes pins and bushings like motorcycle chain oil. It goes on as a very thin foam and wicks in to the necessary areas, then cures to a much higher viscosity.

Listen to Ona Quest. He sent me the link on the BCC and I have the same problem on my 05 Bounder 35E. Bought it new and the coach and chassis batteries always were charged when hooked up to shore power or on gen. I am not to good on electronics and have an extended warranty so it is in the shop as we speak. I bet your auxiliary boost is not working either?

I wonder if its just specific models. I know our neighbours discovery doesn't have the circuitry to charge the chassis batterys and he uses a trikl start type product. He does have the aux boost relay obviously.
By the way, Your location kinda threw me a bit. I thought you were from French Canada with a location like "La Canada" Then I figured out the gender was wrong (Le Canada for Canada) and it was the Spanish spelling La Cañada with the ñ. Then the California made sense. I googled it. I never knew there was a place called La Cañada in California, and only a couple hours from us in Palm Springs.

i recently changed my coach now i own 96 Itasca Suncruiser Ford base.
could someone please teach me how to find the VSS (speed sensor) from the dash to connect navigation ?
i saw 3 couplers connected onto meter but cant find which one is for speed.

I hope you are aware that you EEC-IV module is OBD I and not OBD II. Ford didn't use OBD II on a 460 motorhome chassis. The VSS signal goes directly to the EEC-IV module and the PSOM that is located in the wiring harness behind the dash. I don't remember ever seeing a navigation system that hooked to a OBD I VSS.

Kenneth, I have an Onan Marque 7000 NHM in my 95 Bounder. As previously mentioned, it runs at 1800 RPM and the exhaust sound is quieter than the mechanical sounds. The NHM is equipped with an electronic governor and is very frequency stable.
That Microlite 4000 turns 3600RPM and can set up a drone inside you RV. I have a friend with a Microlite 4000 in his Bounder and it's some what unpleasant inside, when running.

Yup, what PSI are you carrying in the front air bags now?
To properly inflate, use jacks to raise the front end off the ground. Inflate to proper PSI. Lower front off jacks. Re-measure ride height.
Oh come on now! If you're going to suggest something as absurd as having to raise the front end with a jack to air the bags. Please offer some equally absurd logic as to why that is necessary.

SpinRite, Thanks for the report. I had the same experience as hershey had with his front cap. The UV radiation removed the RMP from my front cap in less than a year. The rest of my 95 Bounder looks great. I decided to re-coat the front cap with Poli Glow. We'll see how the high $$ stuff holds up next year.
