RE: Stopped by the Ram dealer

He was wrong. If you get the 850 torque engine you have to get the Aisin.

RE: dometic fridge intermittent

Was it level when parked? This is the biggest killer of absorption fridges.

RE: Campfires...good in moderation

A good thing to have in your first aid kit is burn ointment.

RE: A little disappointed in the price

It's so common for CW to be more expensive that I rarely even check with them. Oh and BTW CW, those ads that you send out with no prices for things (just % off normal price) aren't working. I don't pay any attention to advertisements without prices.

RE: Roof Replacement on 2001 Cedar Creek 33RLBS Fifth Wheel

Now there's a used trailer I would buy in a heartbeat. Nice work! Scott

RE: Use of Cinder Blocks

Cinder blocks have a habit of disintegrating without warning. I prefer wood or plastic.

RE: How hard is it to put in a skylight?

I installed one of these timers so I don't have to deal with the draft while I'm in the shower. It's great of the other little chores in there too and even comes in handy if we hang bathing suits to dry. Using one of these would be a lot less work than installing another vent. Timer It also comes in white and a 30 minute version. Mine is installed next to the vent http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk167/ScottGpics/Mobile%20Uploads/mms_picture-26.jpg

RE: Cover or not to cover

Our TT is covered 7+ months of the year during the winter. It still looks like new after nearly ten years.

RE: Magnetek 6300Q power converter failure

A progressive Dynamics will fit in the charger section nicely. I suggest you visit http://www.bestconverter.com/ for lots of good info.

RE: A question about transmissions

Another vote for the Pac Brake. You'll kick yourself for not getting one earlier.

RE: Should have taken a picture.

Someone must have removed them after it was delivered to the dealer. It couldn't have been pulled from the factory that way.

RE: Dometic frig is on, GAS / AC indicator light

As Terry said, the light only indicates auto and does not indicate AC or gas unless you force it to gas only. Then the auto light extinguishes and the gas light comes on.

RE: 2002 F350 Lariat with 7.3L Diesel

It could be argued. They are indeed a very good engine. The only down side is weaker performance than newer rigs but it will serve you well otherwise.

RE: Plugging in at home between trips

We keep ours plugged in and the fridge stocked with condiments and staples.

Probably the ethanol eating it up. Try to find a replacement that will stand up to it.

RE: A question about transmissions

When Dodge added exhaust brakes to the Cummins, they found that a thrust washer in the trans would suffer from compression braking. So it was replaced with a different design (in 06). The odd thing is lots of guys had been using EB's and had not reported any problems with "thrust washers". If it were me, I would get one of the controllers you spoke of and enjoy the benefits. You may also find and EB would be nice. Just keep in mind that it's possible you may have trans damage eventually.

RE: Longest Satisfactory Use of Easy Lube Axles?

On mine, 2 of the 4 leaked onto the brakes and I greased them EXACTLY per the instructions. My results seem to be common from what I read here. FWIW, a few squirts wont grease the front bearing if it's the first time. If the EZ lube portion has never been used before you have to pump grease in until it fills and slightly pressurizes the rear bearing cavity area. Only then will it flow forward towards the front bearing. Greasing is not completed until you see grease movement at the front bearing around the zerk area. The first time takes lots of grease because the factory lubes the bearings before they are installed and leaves lots of air space in the cavity.

RE: Pyrometer and diesel trucks

If towing with the cruise control set, the throttle is in the "idle" position so it's hard to tell how hard it's pushing the truck. I like having a EGT/Boost gauge because it lets me know at a glance how hard it's working.
