RE: Enclosed bathroom

Love ours! We don't like the idea of seeing the sink and shower in the bedroom all the time, and find that an all-in-one enclosed bathroom is more home-like.

RE: Why do you full time?

We fulltime as a means to deeply explore different parts of the country. Just finishing a workamping gig in the Black Hills of South Dakota (Mt. Rushmore) - did almost everything there is to do here and enjoyed working at a national Park. Different strokes for different folks. :)

RE: Summer in YNP

We have just a couple more days workamping at Mt. Rushmore for their bookstore association - we enjoyed it, enjoyed being in one place for he duration of the season, and had a good time. Onto the next gig! :)

Keystone, SD to Amarillo, TX

HI, Anyone recently drive on either 385 or 83 between Keystone, SD (Mt. Rushmore) and Amarillo, TX? 385 goes through Sidney, NE & Lamar, CO; 83 goes through Murdo, SD & North Platte, NE. We pull a FW and are wondering which is the easier drive and/or most scenic. Currently planning the 385 route, in part to see Cabela's and it is less mileage, but if adding 150 miles and going 83 is better, we'd like to know. As always - thank you!

RE: Summer winding down, where're you headed for the Fall/Winter

We have a few weeks left working at the Mt. Rushmore bookstores, then a six week leisurely journey to our next destination - Sun-n-Fun in Sarasota, Florida!!!

RE: does anyone know where i can advertise a membersip for sale?

Use Craigslist in the areas where you think people would want the membership (i.e. snowbird locales.)

RE: Need a new sofa in our 5th wheel

Is there an Ikea near you? They specialize in smaller furniture for smaller living spaces - we purchased a couch from them to replace one in our old TT.

RE: Starting out "on the road again"

We fulltimed for a year then went back to the stick & brick for a couple years, now back on the road FTing again. We didn't like it as much as we thought we would the first time, partially due to the fact that we tried to live the fulltime life we thought it would be, not what it actually was. Hard to explain, but basically we came up with an idea in our minds from reading blogs, etc.... and what we were doing as fulltimers the first time around wasn't a right fit for us. This time, however, we know what we want to do, live, etc.. and we much enjoy living our lives, rather than those we read about. Hope this makes sense - it's meant to be helpful. So my words of wisdom - lead your own life how you want to do it, and not be swayed by what others are doing. (Strangle enough, we've always done that, but didn't when we started fulltiing.......)

RE: rubber roof coming off Couger 5th wheel

We had the same thing happen to us on our Montana High Country - called the warranty department at Keystone - we were still under warranty and they took care of us in fabulous fashion - really, no complaints. You may have to get a bit pushy and get past the initial people who just tell you to drive to a dealer, however. Good luck!!! PS - If you want to see our photos (parts of the roof actually came off while on route) - here ya go: Roof Photos

RE: Preparing 4 Fulltime RVing - Work Questions

We restring RV blinds - both in person and mail-in - and almost all campgrounds we've visited have been very open about us putting out a flyer for when we're there (to restring while in the park) and in leaving one for our mail-in service when we're gone. In fact, there have been a few times we've done a restringing job for the people that work at the RV park! :) We also have a magnetic sign on our truck, and that has gotten quite a bit of walk-by business. Good luck!

RE: Washer/Dryer pros & cons?

We have a combo and love it. If I had the room, I would have probably gone with the stackable, but now that I'm used to the combo, I would go with this again. Why? Because I can toss in a load, walk away, and come back and it's done (sans folding). No need to switch loads, etc..... yet still the option to just wash or just dry. I also find the washer part of the stackables difficult to get into - grab the clothes from the bottom.

RE: Where to dry camp in the eastern US?

www.recreation.gov will show NF and COE campgrounds. . I always struggle finding COE campsites. Do you know of any easy way to filter using recreation.gov? thanks!

RE: Forwarding your mail???

You can have mail sent to many US Post Office as "General Delivery" The Post Office will hold for pickup. It is necessary to check with the Post Office you wish to use, as not all, accept General delivery. Also inquire as to how long they will hold it. We receive mail that way, often. Sidney Follow-up comment as we do the same - ask your send to write HOLD FOR PICK-UP on the pakage.

We do everything online....never had a problem.

RE: Working on the road

We earn money three ways as fulltimers (we are NOT retired): 1. workamping 2. restringing RV blinds (http://bradsblindrepair.webs.com/) 3. teach online (https://www.sites.google.com/site/warnereducation/)

RE: Add a Room - Pros / Cons

We debated this, but instead got a screened-in tent that we can move to where we want the room ~ this way, if there's not enough space for the "awning room," it can be anywhere ~ behind the rig, under trees, etc...... My two-cents...........

RE: Custer State Park

We are workamping at Mt. Rushmore for the summer - in the town of Keystone, there's a good restaurant called Grizzleys ~ in our opinion, the best in the little town. Be sure to take in the night show, starting at 8pm (get there about 7:40ish) and the audio tours ($5 per wand) is really great. Other cool places in the area: Wind Cave Jewel Cave The Mammoth Site in Hot Springs (can combine with Wind Cave) Take a look at our blog (in signature block) for more area info - we write about all the things we do here. Be sure to load-up on groceries before getting here - not much around and what there is, is expensive. You'll love Custer State Park - be sure to check out Sylvan Lake (oh, their lodge - not the one one the water, but uphill - has great food - go for lunch as it's more reasonably priced) and if you're hikers, there is Harney Peak. Have fun!!
