RE: 2005 Jayco Designer - Some Questions

We've got the '04 in our sig and love it. I haven't had any problems with it, perform the usual maintenance. It is still very solid. We've been very happy with it.

Wow! Very nice. Was the Bighorn repainted, or is that the original?

RE: Mosquitos!

I've found those clip on battery operated repellent fans to actually work pretty well. Can't think of who makes them right now, but they're all over. In addition to the beer, of course!

RE: Leak has been found, how to dry

Unless you run the dehumidifier, a heater might not work too well, as you'll be creating humidity. I would just run a regular fan or two, pointed directly at the wet area as much as possible. Keep your windows open too.

RE: full timing with black water Q

Put rotating vanes on BOTH the black and grey tanks. Lots of water is all you need.
Barb
I'll admit I'm fairly new at RVing. I've never heard of "rotating vanes." What are they?
Referring to vent covers that rotate with the wind direction and draw odors out, such as this one.

RE: Scan Gauge II

Not to hijack this thread, but what is the brightest, easiest to see, greatest contrast color?
I don't know about the Scangauge, but the Insight automatically adjusts to light conditions.

Try The Geo Method. It'sIt's been very effective for us, but you need to follow it as written.

RE: Scan Gauge II

I'm using the Edge Insight CTS and been happy with it. Monitors whatever i want right out of the box. Planning to get the EGT probe installed, and will also accept a rear view camera.

RE: Living FT in RV while moving to a new Town: ideas?

Just make sure you consider all the possibilities. Buddy of mine tried to do the same thing when he took a job transfer. Wife was supposed to join him in a couple of months when the s&b sold. Long story short, never did sell, she finally joined him 2 years later. Think it messed their finances up pretty bad. Moral of the story: look before you leap! Good luck.

RE: Fifth Wheel hitch

I'm very happy with my B&W Companion hitch. It leaves a clean bed when removed since it doesn't use rails.
X2. I've had a hitch with rails in the bed and now the companion and much prefer the B&W configuration. You can't beat the quality, ease of operation, and simplicity of hooking/unhooking. Easily removable too.

RE: Fifth Wheel Capabilities Truck

You will probably be close to the limit by the time you add water, clothes, food, propane, etc. Say you add 1k lbs. of weight, that will put you at 11500, witha pin weight around 2200 lbs. That would probably bee close to you payload limit, though I'm not sure. You get the idea though. Also, dry weight doesn't account for add ons, such as ac, awnings, etc., so you're more than likely already heavier.

RE: Shiny RV with Red Max Pro (pics)

As I understand the process, a renewal coat each year will keep it looking good. I didn't do it last year, but plan to do at least one coat all the way around this year. I don't plan to start from scratch.

Its never happened to mine, but I always run it on high. Seems like it shouldn't matter if the ac is working properly.

RE: washing dishes-is grease and food safe down sink drain?

so flushing small food particles/ dirty soapy water down the toilet into the black tank is ok? wont plug it up at all?
No. When you think about other things that go in there, you're just, well, cutting out the middleman, so to speak. And the most important thing to do with a black tank is make sure there is plenty of water in it.

RE: washing dishes-is grease and food safe down sink drain?

Depending on circumstances, we often use a small plastic tub that fits in the sink, then dump that into the black tank. Any food particles won't be a problem there, the soapy water is a plus, and the black tank often doesn't fill as quickly as the greys. Do avoid putting grease in any of them though.

RE: Fantasticvent stuck?

This is fairly commom with Fantastic vents. Contact Fantastic and they will send you new gasgets/lube at no charge.
That may not be true anymore, as they've been bought out and are now a part of a larger company. I've seen reports that parts are available, but no more freebie replacements.

RE: x-chock Tire Locking Chock

I'll fall in the middle; they will hold the trailer from rolling when properly applied, and removed much of the bounce and general movement from my unit.
