RE: bears

derwud I laughed pretty good when I first read the title "Bear, cubs break into Monrovia home, help selves to cat" wasn't as funny when I saw "food" on the second line. I was thinking damn that's my kind of bear! :)
I have two cats I'm willing to donate. Can I just box them up and mail them to Jellystone Park?

RE: few issues came up. 1st trip out this year.... :O(

2nd- The stock dvd/ radio receiver quit- replacing with a regular 12 volt marine radio with USB for MP# input or I-pod connection. any one else do the same and where did you install it? difficulty with wiring?
Very simple. It's much easier for me to work on the stereo head unit in my RV up at eye level with a kitchen counter to hold tools & parts than to work in the dash of your vehicle. Accessing the wiring is easier too.

RE: Chocking question?

Rotochoks are amazing. Give them the measurement between your wheels and they'll get you the right set.

RE: Anyone have issues cooling a 24' TH with a 13500 btu?

I had a 23-foot aluminum-sided toy hauler with a 13.5k unit.
We used it a lot in Lake Havasu in the summer - 120 degree heat.
If I arrived in the heat of the day and turned the AC on, it would struggle to get temps down until the sun fell and outside temps dropped to a cool 90 degrees.
It would maintain a cool temp (mid 80's inside) thru-out the day provided I used my awning or some other source of shade...direct sun loads on an unshaded side would overwhelm the AC and temps would get uncomfortable.
Long time no see. Glad to have you back.

RE: Is a 28 foot TH too much for a 2013 F150 with 5.0 V8?

I don't mean to sound like an a** but I take personal offense when you denigrate my entire profession.
I'm glad to hear that you are an honest salesman, but I think you are in the minority. We've seen years and years of stories to the contrary in these forums. I think nine out of ten of us (maybe even ten out of ten of us) have had similar experiences.
I'm glad that you have a conscience though.

RE: What kind of caulking?

Interesting- I was actually on the roof of the TH yesterday replacing some molding and noted my white caulk has actually turned brown/black and shriveled up near the rear cap.
It happens with age.
Also check for sagging in some parts (another sign of age).

RE: Free ice in the desert

Suck it, Buford! :B
Wow first case of Ice Envy I've heard of! ;)
Hahahaha.
You totally nailed it. Buford has a heck of a rig. He even told Pam and I to go check out his front sleeper and see how insanely comfy his bed is (which we did). All Pam said as we climbed down out of his rig was, "Did you get a load of that ice maker? What do we have to do...? Who do I gotta...? Why don't WE have one of those?"
That's when it was absolutely game on! :B

RE: Free ice in the desert

So if you're like me, you're sick and tired of hearing this on every trip:
"Honey, why can't you be more like Buford."
Bla bla bla Buford. Buford, Buford, Buford.
Mark and his damn ice maker...
So I decided to one-up him. I just installed this in the garage this weekend:

It makes 20 lbs/hr, and it's just the kind of ice that Pam loves: "nugget ice".
Suck it, Buford! :B

RE: CA to Ruby's Inn Utah

Ruby's tells you to come in on the 20 from the South but it looks to be a little longer-
Does that take you through the tunnel at Zion? You should double-check the restrictions. We towed our 30' bumper pull through there and it was a squeaker.

Use a tote and dump it away from camp in the bushes.
That tote has saved me a couple of times.

RE: Fresh Water Holding Tank has a Leak

Depending on the location and shape of the hole, you might be able to fix it with Eternabond tape. I fixed a big hole on the top of my fresh water tank with Eternabond a few years ago. It has held pretty well.

RE: INterested in the Trinity Alps and Redwoods area , info

dedmiston-
sorry I checked this late - I dunno how to do that. I did track it with the trimble gps on my droid. The area is kinda pristine, not whooped out, few riders until you actually get to the monument. PM me, I may be able to better describe.
No worries. I was just curious.

RE: Toyhauler Power System Build

I thought I'd update this post as I've almost completed the power distribution system for the Hauler I'm building. I do have a few questions for those that have Magnum Inverters installed in their rigs.
What have you set your Low Battery Cut Out (LBCO) set at?
And what voltage do you recharde at?
I read where PianoTuna mentioned 12 volts but just wanted to check in with all you experts.
There's a lot more pics at this site, here's the link Page 17

RE: fresh water tank won't fill completely

That one looks good.
I bought a mechanical one from a site called http://www.dripworks.com/ many years ago. It has a dial that I turn back to zero before I start to fill. It's been reliable for us. I also put a small filler snorkel on the end of it, with a shutoff valve. That makes it easy to pause every 20 gallons and let the air burp off. I also stop and listen to make sure both tanks are venting.

I put a gauge and a shutoff valve on my hose when i fill. I stop and let it burp after every 20 gallons.

RE: In search of top 5 quality/durable toy haulers, 14+ Garage

Homework:
Warrior Manufacturing was started by the previous General Manager of Weekend Warrior.
http://www.gnccracing.com/2008/08/21/quick-fill-33-this-week-in-gncc
For Immediate Release:
An ex-Warrior General Manager has taken the opportunity to create a new business catering specifically to the brands customers who may be feeling a little left out in the cold after the company's demise.
Without wasting a second, Larry Broyles has conceived and opened "Warrior Lifestyles RV Store", a Weekend Warrior and Ragen certified parts and service center that will offer all current and obsolete RV parts, as well as on site, certified service out of their Perris, CA location. Warrior Lifestyles will also offer a new website; http://www.warriorlifestylesrvstore.com/, which will make the entire RV parts catalog available to everyone, everywhere.
The closing of Warrior Manufacturing has been a major shock to the RV community. However, Warrior Lifestyles aims to continue serving the thousands of valuable Weekend Warrior and Ragen customers out there who still want to keep their trailers looking great. Please check out http://www.warriorlifestylesrvstore.com/today for more information.
While it's true that ex-WW General Manager Larry Broyles and former WW owner Mark Warmoth aren't the same guys, it's fair to say that Broyles was very involved with WW and the quality of the products went down the tubes while he was GM.
I don't have any experience with the new Warrior Lifestyle products, but I have plenty of experience with the old Weekend Warrior products. You can't say there's no connection.
You decide.
