RE: Homeless Cat -- Now Spot the Christmas Cat

Are you OK where Spot bit you? When one of our cats bit DH in the thumb, DH got an infection that needed IV antibiotics, so I always worry about cat bites. How are you feeling cardiac-wise? Did you find out if the ablation will work for you? Good luck!!

RE: New rv pet?

Minipoodles come in a range of sizes- mine is only 12" to the shoulder, weighs 10 lbs. An owner can easily learn to do the clipping if you use a simple pet haircut and not a ridiculous show cut. You do need to pull out the hair growing in their ear canals, but most take it well.

RE: Homeless Cat -- Now Spot the Christmas Cat

Sounds like a wonderful, meaningful Thanksgiving. I think it's really funny that Mama Doe Lassie is getting picky.

RE: New rv pet?

But the breed selectors usually only consider pure bred dogs, so labradoodles or poochons wouldn't be there. One comment on Japanese Chins: The will jump up on shelves, etc, like cats do. I was looking into Mi-Ki dogs once , which are a combination of the Japanese Chin and i think 2 other toy breeds. I decided against them because I didn't want a dog that jumped up on things, for safety reasons. Where would I store my chocolate? What if the dog fell and broke a bone?

RE: New rv pet?

I just did the dog breed selector questionnaire , just fun. It came up with toy poodle for me. I have a toy poodle and a mini poodle that was supposed to be a toy but grew a little more than expected. So sometimes the questionnaires are right on. I also think my dogs would be great RV dogs ( I don't know for sure- I only have a tent and camp differently than I would if I had an RV.

RE: Lost MIND!, but now it is going to work out/ PICTURES

This is wonderful news! I met the nicest female pit bull yesterday. She was tied up near where her owner was working outside, and when I went over to say hello she went right onto her back for a belly rub. Very very sweet.

RE: Curious, anyone's dog taking Denamarin supplement?

My 8 year old toy poodle was born with canine hepatic microvascular dysplasia, which is an abnormality of the small blood vessels in the liver that causes the liver not to filter blood as efficiently as it should. When he was diagnosed, there wasn't much information about how it might affect his future health and lifespan. HE has been on denamarin since then, and I've read that since he is now 8 his lifespan shouldn't be effected. As far as I'm concerned, it has been a blessing. I do put it in a pill pocket, though. Dr Doug, please correct me if I got any of this info wrong.

RE: Opinions? Cabela's Lounge Cot

Thanks for the suggestion of the Texsport cot- it does look good- I'm looking for something that can be a chaise during the day as well as a cot at night. I want to use it for lounging as well as sleeping.

Opinions? Cabela's Lounge Cot

I'm looking for a comfortable lounge that is also comfortable as a cot. Has anyone tried this one? Was it comfortable as a lounge chair? as a bed? I don't care that it is bulky and heavy. Don't worry, tplife, I'll be using them indoors.

RE: Bella lost her battle

I'm so sorry for your loss. She was lucky to have all the love and care she did from you during this life, and when she meets you at the rainbow bridge she'll be feeling great and you'll get the most amazing greeting ever.

RE: Harlee "The Vicious Attack Dog" ... Adopted 10/26/07

I too am sorry to hear about your loss. When i read your post a mental image flashed in my mind, of Harlee playing at the rainbow bridge with Jason, my wonderful mixed breed who has been waiting for my DH and I for over 25 years now, neither of the dogs old or in pain any more. Please give Calvin a big hug for me (and you'll get love back from him, to help comfort you).

RE: Homeless Cat -- Now Spot the Christmas Cat

Thanks for the updates. You're making me think again about getting a bat house for my yard- to help with the mosquitos etc. Nice of the hummingbird to decided to let you sit on your own porch, right? But since I rarely see them, I'd love being buzzed by one. I'm not sure you realize how many people's days you brighten whenever you post about your fabulous home and all your wildlife. Thank you.

RE: Your first puppy stories

My first puppy was a beautiful daschund that my parents got when I was about 8 or 9. She was very sweet and always slept with me. Sadly, she only lived till I graduated from high school, when my mother had her put down for no good reason. She'll be the first one I'll greet at the rainbow bridge. The next dog in my life was a wonderful mutt named Jason who my husband had when I met him. Jason looked a lot like a border collie. When DH and I were first dating, Jason was jealous and tried to get in between us on the sofa and other places. Finally he figured out he wasn't losing a person, he was gaining a second person, and he became my dog too. We had him when our 2 sons were born and he was amazing with them. He was the dog that no other dog we have will ever quite live up to ( though we love them lots and they are great). The first puppy I ever got to choose myself was Rascal, a bichon frise we bought from a good breeder. He was large for a bichon and a real love bug. He was great with kids- when I picked my sons up from grade school and brought him along, the kids would come out and he'd be surrounded by several kids petting him at once. He loved it. He lived to be 13. When he was about 8, we got Lacey, another bichon, and they loved each other so much. She lived to 14. After Rascal died, we got Rudy, a toy poodle, for her "little brother" He is 8 now and is the best nurse of any dog we ever had- after I had surgery and when DH was going through chemo and radiation therapy, he'd be glued to our sides except for meals and very quick trips outside . Dog love is the best medicine. After Lacey died, we got Bailey, a mini poodle, who just turned 1 year old. He's a sweetie, too. We call Rudy and Bailey our travel size dogs, because they fit in those carry on crates that fit under the seat in front of you in a plane, so they travel with us. The only kitten I got was Zoe, a beautiful Japanese Bobtail. My DH, 2 sons and I went to a cat show just to see some Japanese Bobtails, but one woman had a kitten for sale, and she went home with us. I got her because I wanted to have a litter of puppies born in my home, but my DH and my vet convinced me to go with kittens instead, since dogs are more likely to have trouble giving birth. She had one litter- and had to have a caesarean section with the 3rd!! I gave my vet one kitten, one son's best friend's family another, and kept the Mitsu. But one of my sons developed allergies, so Zoe and Mitsu ended their lives living with their son/brother at the best friends house. We had visiting privileges, though.

RE: Washing machines and your cats

My front loading washing machine has a "Pause" button to push. It stops the wash and you can open the door. It's hard to believe how stupid some people. Putting a child in a washing machine?!?!
