RE: Jan 16, Holiday where ya going?

this is the time of year when I'm jealous of y'all living in the southwest. I did manage to get the genny to fire up when it was -5 deg F. Turned the fireplace on, sat down to enjoy it...and then cold hit me and I realized its too d@mn cold to even think about camping. It gets bad here sometimes we have to go campin when its in the 40's

Monday 12/26 when we got there was clear and cold, started a fire at 2PM. Tues/Wed/Thurs got warmer each day and night. Friday cold/raining and overcast all day. Saturday woke up to very nice weather, was able to dry out everything, pack up and leave before the clouds/wind/rain came in around 12 noon. Best part about the week with all the riding we did, no dust. Bad part, had to wash all the mud off the RZR when we got home. I don't wash it more than 1x per year. Time for a new primary clutch in the RZR. Lots of rattling at idle, began to hear that on our last trip. Opened the clutch cover and it was really loud. Lots of clearance between the spider and button (about 1/16"). A fairly deep groove worn on the clutch body where button on the spider rubs against. 5800 miles of turbo charged miles, it's time. Hopefully new clutch won't take a lot of adjusting, took about 500 miles to get it right the first time. Will also replace the primary spring, as this one has to be weak now. My picture kinna looks like yours

RE: New Years Weekend

That's the $64k question. It depends on when we can hit the road. If we can leave early enough, we'll try for the spot at the top of the hill. It will probably be gone though. If so, we'll be down on Steven's Mine. No riding for me though. Two weeks ago I had a tumor removed from one of my testicles. It turned out to be benign, but the surgery was invasive enough to keep me from doing much of anything for awhile. Ill be with Dave and were confident we'll be at the tree on the hill DAVE good times to come well if you're by the tree on the hill you should be about a mile from us. I'll definitely be stopping by. I think we'll have a VERY large group. Lots of yellow/black Viewfinder flags/banners flying. If were not up at the tree we'll be on Stevens mine

RE: Our Thanksgiving trip to the desert

Nice! I started out in Johnson Valley where I met up with my brother. Then we both headed to Boron area to camp with my cousins. (Got kicked out of the Boron Prison by some really official looking Federal guys.) We ended up with my sister camping across from Wagon Wheel. The wind Saturday broke a slide support. And didn't let up until I dropped down out of Jordan Valley, 2 hours from home. Still, good times in a great area! Info on this boron prison deal sounds like fun A few in my group rode out to that ghost town prison. Is that the prison in cal city?

RE: Thanksgiving

Wagon wheel Aka Charlie's place is easy in, easy out. You camp among cool rock formations just off Trona road. Cell service is good too. I'd go there, it's a really neat spot to camp in. wagon wheel will get packed in fast, IF you can get there early its an excellent spot. Easy to find Trona rd. / Stevens mine rd. is very close to wagon wheel and easier to find a spot.

RE: Thanksgiving

I know you went to Dove Springs on a big weekend recently, don't remember which one but it is TOTALLY CRAZY over Thanksgiving. I would stay as far away as possible unless you like to party, just my opinion and I'm an old fart; but with young kids like yours, wouldn't recommend it. I think we're heading to Teagle Wash the day after, not sure. We went memorial weekend. Wasn't too bad. Hungry valley is the same way full of idiots. Pretty much every major holiday at Hungry valley we see someone getting air lifted. We been doing this 3 years now so the kids are looking forward to it so it has to be either one. Kids leaning toward dove springs - no park rangers and they can drive the Razor plus shoot their pellet guns. Where is Teagle wash? Spangler if you like dove springs youll love spangler. Its pretty much a no idiot zone, no poo poo less wind, try it sometime. Well be at cuddleback somewhere by the lakebed Its only 3 hours away!! You going thanks giving? We might go out that way since we never been there, and we like new places. Yes were going to spangler over cuttleback area lots of good rides from there.

Have a trip to Shaver Lake planned but pending changing fire situation and temps probably end up at Gorman.

RE: traveling with water

Most of us are 18-24 K I daught the water weight will matter much. The trailer is made to haul water, my old WW pull trailer pulled better with water on. Sloshing around ? they put tanks on the trailer so you can fill when you get to the campground....
