RE: Camping World in Colorado Springs

Maybe you should also post your experiences with both companies on this site: RV Service Reviews: CO

RE: Washington SW Coast to Yakima

I use 6 with my smaller MH but there are several very narrow bridges. Doable, but I think you'd rather avoid it. It would be better to take 101 all the way to 12.

RE: Washington SW Coast to Yakima

From Astoria take US30 cross the bridge to Longview and I5 south. Get on I84 east avoiding most of the Portland chaos. Biggs junction where you pick up US97 north. Couple of steep climbs, one out of the Columbia river basin another after Goldendale. But both doable. If you like wine, stop at Snoqualmie winery in Patterson,Wa. Best Riesling you will find on the west coast! This is probably the best route. But if you are further north on the WA coast, you could take US 12, which is a beautiful route straight to Yakima. Rigs of all sizes take it every day.

Where exactly on the SW WA coast?

RE: Used versus new

I seem to remember seeing a graph showing that depreciation starts to level out after four or five years. Given the list of new rig deficiencies most people encounter, I would say that buying a few years old would probably be the most cost-effective and ensure that the warranty items have been taken care of.

RE: Hamburger Press

BTW: If you make a 1" hole in the middle of the patty, it will cook faster and more thoroughly and the hole will usually close up.

RE: Favorite Crockpot recipe

Not a recipe, per se, but my favorite thing to cook in the crockpot is pork tenderloin. Always stays so moist and tender. :p

RE: Trailer Life Directory listings don't tell the whole story

I find TL a useful tool but always do a check on RV Park Reviews, as well.

RE: Annual Leaking Toilet Seal

You don't let it dry out, do you? I keep RV antifreeze in the bowl all winter. If it dries out, it's shot. I also use silicone spray on it once in a while.

RE: Poor design medicine cabinet - anybody upgrade?

I would buy some narrow plastic desk-organizing trays and fix them to each shelf.

RE: 1998 Roadtrek 190 Dodge Chassis

I would want to know if the low mileage is due to handling issues as was sometimes reported with the Dodge chassis.

RE: Merger of GS CW makes Rally an infomercial

One thing that has been overlooked is a new generation has begun to reach the prime years but little is available for boomers. It reflects old thinking and formulas for past generations. You are right on with this observation. Many of us of the boomer generation are more interested in boondocking, 'greener' RV living and different activities, like hiking, kayaking, canoeing, cycling and biking. Many of us do not feel we fit with the the GS crowd but I continue to be a member out of respect for its heritage. :)

RE: If you have a dog please pick up!

People who don't pick up are not the types who would look at a thread with this title, now are they?

RE: Jasper and Banff to Glacier NP

You probably know this but: Are there vehicle size restrictions on the Going-to-the-Sun Road? Yes. To help reduce congestion, vehicle size restrictions are in effect. Vehicles, and vehicle combinations, longer than 21 feet(including bumpers) or wider than 8 feet (including mirrors), are prohibited between Avalanche Campground and the Rising Sun picnic area parking. Vehicle and vehicle combinations over 10 feet in height may have difficulty driving west from Logan Pass to the Loop, due to rock overhangs. Stock trucks and trailers are able to access Packers Roost on the west, and Siyeh Bend on the east. There are shuttles that provide viewing of the GTS Highway for those who can't drive it. It should be open by July.

RE: If you have a dog please pick up!

I have observed that most dog owners, myself included, are conscientious about picking up. But there are always a few who are not. Near my camp site the other day, a group moved in and their little dachshund was running around loose, doing his thing in an unoccupied site across the road. These same people displayed other irresponsible behaviors such as noise, public arguments and a general disregard for others in the campground. Thankfully, I was leaving the next day. I would add that I picked up several 'other dog' poop piles during my stay but I don't like to have to.
