RE: landing gear dual motors

I've had a few times where the one motor really strains, like if the front is dropped way down to level the rig, got so hot had to let it rest. Ever tried manual cranking? NOT FUN!

RE: landing gear dual motors

If your "driven" leg is not moving maybe you've sheared the pin on the connecting linkage or it fell out, I've done both.
Also can booger up the internal pinion set up (I've done that too).
etrailer offers dual motor kits for most brands, like Donn said (hey another two n Donn!) need to know the brand.

RE: Flipping Shackles

I don't think they would remain "flipped" Hap. I am aware of what you are talking about on a leaf sprung car/truck, I've done that before but the front of those leaf springs attach to a fixed location, trailers have shackles on both ends. Once the spring compresses far enough the shackle will "snap" back to where it was I believe. Mabye BobWanderer can confirm or offer advice as he's worked on a ton of heavy duty trailers.
We still need to get together for a cold beverage some day, heading up your way to Brown's on the Owens for the Fourth of July week.

RE: Fresh Water Holding Tank has a Leak

I had a leak at the edge of the fitting that goes into the water tank I used the JB weld for plastic but it did hold. Long story short I removed the tank and was referred by and RV place where they take theirs for repairs they redid all three fittings for $30 bucks man I couldn't believe it.
Where did you take yours? Mine has a leak too.

RE: Evans Flat Campgound

I've ridden through it on a dual sport ride last year. It is very nice and in the pines. should be no problem for your trailer except a long dirt road but Rancheria road is very wide and pretty flat. I think the easiest way there is via Alta Sierra.
As for riding you'll have a lot of trouble if you're not plated. There are only so many green sticker trails, most are single track too. To connect the trails without a plate might be a challenge.
Do some seaching for more info. as I've never investigated. You might try Stewards of the Sequoia, Chris Horgan runs that organization and they do amazing work maintaining the trails around there. He might have more information or be able to steer you to some maps.

RE: Aweing

I know its not in The O.C. but I have a friend at Van Nuys Awning. He's repaired many and even made one or two for friends using the good Sunbrella fabric.
What he does is sew on a short section of new material where it attaches to the coach, that's where they usually rot out.
PM me if you want more info. You can remove the awning and take it to him so you don't have to lug the trailer and back it into his yard.

RE: Short Bed Dually

I have a manual slide, used it once or twice.
My advice is that if you are pretty sure you will need a slider for regular driving/parking then get the auto slider. Otherwise get the manual and then you know its there for emergencies.
One other consideration to all those saying, "money well spent, etc." remember that the auto slider hitches are HEAVY! If you need to take the hitch out when not towing it will take two strong people or you have to take it out in sections.

RE: Supplier for Outrigger??

A compotent sheet metal shop should be able to bend them up for you if you can draw them up. I think they're about 12-14 gage. The OEM ones are stamped I'm sure but no reason they can't be made on a brake.

RE: Saying goodbye to my Voltage

After 12 years of owning various Toy Haulers, DW and I have purchased a Class A pusher. We just sold the 2011 Voltage and watched it drive away. Nice thing was that we only had it listed for 1 week. New owner is getting a deal and one hell of a tricked out Volty. It was by far the best TH we have owned and we will miss it. Not done riding, just going with an enclosed trailer pulled behind the Class A.
Don't blame you, I'd do the same if I had the money and room to store a MH and trailer.

RE: Generator getting too much fuel????

Unfortunately if the jet(s)is clogged all the seafoam or Sta Bil in the world won't free it up. That stuff has to come in contact with the spooge to eat it up and it can't get to it inside the jet if it is 100% clogged.

RE: Towing KZ MXT 312 w/half ton GMC???

Having burned up two transmissions in a 1/2 ton Silverado towing near or just over the GCWR of the truck I can say I would never do it again. If you do get a decent trans cooler, the OEM are a joke.

RE: simple battery question

NO WAY I could get away with that when DW is there, last weekend when everyone was in tee shirts, she had a long sleeve shirt AND sweatshirt on AND spent most of the time inside with a blanket over Her. :h
Maybe she should stay home then! It was so nice last weekend, then again there was quite a bit of antifreeze in most everyone's pipes.

Guy on the street behind me has a larger WW fiver and the truck plate says "Jonah" so I can only imagine the trailer is "the whale"
