RE: Outboard Motor Gas in Generator?
Hi All.
Dump it in an older truck or Car. Or some kind or Yard Equipment. I would never put old used Gas, even with Sta-Bil or Sea Foam in it, into our Honda's.
We have about almost ten years on our twin Honda EU2000i's, Paralla Kit and Extended Run Tank. And not so much as one problem. Why would anyone take a chace of gumming up a Honda Generator ? Not in our life time. But you do what ever makes you happy, after all, its your Honda.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: Engine not charging house batteries? Ideas?
Hi All.
Why don't you give Rexhall a call, as they are still in Business, and ask them for an Electrial Chart on your year Rexhall. It should be charging all of your Battries, both the House and the Engine Battery. I have called Rexhall and they are very nice, and very easy to work with.
Even our 1998 Rexhall charges all of the Battries at the same time. We were lucky, as we have ever peice of paper and every Book that came with our Rexhall, since the day it was built, including all Maintance Records.

RE: new kitchen faucet
Hi All.
We also relaced the Kitchen Faucet, do to it dripping from the OEM Kitchen Faucet. There was no numbers or a name of the Faucet. I even took the Faucet to Lowes and to Home Depot, and a real Pluumbing Store. They used some very usnusal size O-Rings that we could not matched up.
We both didn't want any RV Cheap******going back into our Motorhome. So I bought one of those fairl Tall Kitchen Faucets, that you can actually fit a tall pot under and put some water in it.
It was a very tight fit, as the OEM Faucet was installed already when they installed the Cabinets from the Factory. But I got it all together, and didn't have to use any additional parts or fitting.
It sure did make the Kitchen look a lot nicer, plus having a usefull Tall kitchen Faucet that works very well.
We don't put chap stuff in our Stick-N-Brick Home, so why on earth would we want cheap******in ojur Motorhome. After all, it is our "Second Home on Wheels" for us, so we fix our Motorhome up the way we wanted it to look inside.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: I'm back
We are back form Yuma and boy what a trip. No we are not snowbirds as my wife still teaches ad so we are limited to going down for spring break to visit our family who do snowbird from back east. They want us to come down and snow bird next year but I don't think so. Too many old people. that's my story and I'm sticking to it. i am 70 but I hate it when I almost get run over by the little carts. and the water in Yuma is horrible. I tried to take a shower the first day and I had a bar of soap stop from the wrist to the elbow. Had a bear of a time to get it to move after that. I am so 100% for water softeners. went to Mexico and the smell of sewer every where. now I know why they don't put toilet paper in the toilets up north. Now I'm not saying all the mess on the hwy's is caused by snow birds but darn there is a lot of rv related stuff on the sides of the roads coming north into Idaho on hwy 93, ice chests, ice chest lids, A/C covers, propane covers, tire casings, ladders, bicycles. just a mess. some one needs to secure their loads before they hit to road. Now I know I'm going to get bashed but I don't care. by the way, I don't think I will be going south again very soon. I like it here at home at lot more than down there.
Hi old guy.
I can't comment on the roads going to there or back from their. But I sure am with you, about being back in Oregon. As I lived in "La Pine" Oregon, for 18 years. I sure wish I never would have moved away from there.
All of Central Oregon , has everything anyone could ever want in just one state. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: RV construction
No Rexhall also uses a steel frame. Although, not in the sub $100,000 class anymore (new ones) Lots of older ones for sale. Excellent coaches.
My 1998 was steel framed.
Hi All.
X2 on this one. Its also just one of the many reasons that we only wanted a "Rexhall Motorhome" only, Period.
There are a lot of other things that Rexhall was the first Manufactors to do things to their Motorhomes thata other Manufactors never even though of doing.
Yes, they are an "Excellent Coach". Haven't had any issues at all with our Rexhall Motorhome. We wouldn't worry about any problems at all, in taking our Motorhome Coast to Coast or even back and forth to Alaska.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: Traveling with Bicycles
Hi All.
Several years ago, we also bought a "Good Pair" of Folding Bikes, no cheapies, and they came wiht their own Bike Covers also.
They easily fit in just about any of our "Basement Compatments". There a lot of fun to have with you. As you sure can cover a lot more areaa on Bikes than on walks, which we still do also.
We don't like the loooks of Bikes being carried on the back of RV's on their Ladder. Bike Rack Carriers that goews into the 2 in Recievers is OK, but thing hanging of the back of Ladders is pretty Tackey to us, but hey each to their own ways.
Espaically if you have a very Small RV with very limited space, so you just have to do what ever you can do to make things work for you.
Good Luck. Dan & Jill
RE: Battery fillers
Hi All.
We have been using the Pro Battery Fill Systems for the past ten years or so, between the 12 Volt Set, and the 6 Volt Set.
They are by no menas made cheapely by any means. They are the easiest way to take care of your Distilled Battery Watering issues. You don't even get you hands didty at all.
We would never be with out them ever again. Worth every cent that they cost. Best to always catch everything on sale, period. I only need to check my Battery Bank only 2-3 times a year.
And even then, lucky if the Battery Bank takes even an ounce of Distilled Water at any one time. I did do an upgrade to a Mulit-Stage True Smart Converter, so there is no Battery Boiling.
The cost of them have come done quite a bit over the years. We love ours.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: Hanging a fan
Hi All.
We have "Fantastic Fans", with Maxx Fan Covers on both of them, And in our Motorhomes Bathroom, and in the Kitchen area. With just thses two "Fantastic Fans", it just about takes care of all of our Fan Needs.
But just for the Heck of it, when they first came out quite a while ago, we bought a "Fantastice Endless Breeze Fan". On high it uses less thana full 2 AMP's. It has enought power and breeze to push air to one end of our Motorhome to the other end with out to much noise. For a 12 Volt Fan, it is for sue a real "Fantastic Fan" to have with you. And since it use so little power, its great for Boon-Docking. All you need is a Power Port or a Cig Lighter and your ready to use it any where you may want to add one too.
TO PIGG-SMOKER, you can find Industrial Type Velcrow at almost any good Hardware store, espically HD or Lowes.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: Dog House Modification
Hi All.
I make a nice wooden Cup Holder and a place for a few extra things, wiht one small drawer, for really small stuff. I also included a spot for my 17 inch Laptop, which we use for our "Delorme GPS System".
It helps if you have some woood working skills or other kinds that we help you figure out some other things that you can do. Its your RV, so go for it, make it anyways that you want to, we did.
After all, its your second home away form home, so fix it up the way that you want it to look inside.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: All Dash gauges stopped working
Hi All.
For those of us the do all of our own work on our Motorhomes, it really isn't a problem anyways.
Its called, "Provenative Maintenance Programs", Period. I for one am a real nut case when it come to this. Anytime that we are at home, I am always doing somthing to our Motorhome. I mean I don't really miss anything. I start at one end, and just keep going until I get to the other end. I check everything under the Motorhome, all Blots and Nuts, any Wiring Connections, etc etc.
The same thing for indside of the Motorhome. All Lights, which are all LED's, all wiring connections. All water lines and Propane Lines too. I also check over my 460 EFI Engine too.
To me anyways, its not work. I enjoy doing things to our Motorhome constantely to lake it even more enjoyable and even more comfortable than when it was new.
We even have done an "Inside Make-Over" as soon as we bought our Motorhome. As we really liked the Lay-Out, but did not like some of the Colors or some of the RV Furniture.
So we did our "Inside Make-Over, to where we wanted it to look inside. And while we were at it, we did all of the Up-Grade that we wanted to do also.
But for some reason,. I still always seen to find just one more mod to do, then another and another. I think I am a Mod Junkie.
I did have very weak Headlights the day we bought it. I have now cleaned every ground wire there is, in or on our Motorhome.
Tow of the best tools to have on board is a "Kill-A-Watt Meter, and Multi-Meter, and a plain old 12 Volt Tester, and a 3 Light Tester that you use before you ever plug in to a 30 AMP Plug-in. Ihave and carry more kind of testers than I realy need. But I also carry a 121 peice Tool Set, and couple of 12 Ton Bottle Jacks, Boards, Big Floor Jack, and a 150 PSI Air Compresssor, wiht 75 feet of Air Hose, and all Air Tools and parts. And some of the older stuff I took off of the Motorhomes Motor when I replaced all the Belts and Hoses. So I am about ready for anything that might come up.
I have used my Tools more for other RV'ers, so much more than for myself. Its nice to be able to go some where and not worry about breaking down.
All we can really say, is take good care of your RV, and your RV will take good care of you.
Our Motorhome is my "Man Cave" so of. I am in and out of it every day it is at home.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: Progressive Industies EMS-PT50C owners please comment
Hi All.
We have the 30 AMP "Portable Surge Protector". Been uning it for bourt the last ten yrear on our last two RV'.
We did buy the Lock for it, but almost never used it, especially when we had our 5er.
With the Motorhome, I have two 25' 30 AMP Cords. So now we keep the Surge Protector inside the Electgrail Compatment. It stays nice and neat, and rolled up in a big circle in the compartment. I have the 30 AMP "Protable Surge Protector", mounted to the wall. It works very well for us. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: Went from Queen Size to King Size Bed
Hi All.
Theres nothing better than RV'ing, except to get the best nighs sleep that one can in any kind or brand of RV made.
I did the exact same thing some time ago in anther 5er that we had. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & jill
RE: dish holder
Hi All.
We put that Non-Slip Shelf Liner, that you can buy almost anywhere. Put in on everyshelf in the Motorhome.
I also cut peices for every plate and bowl, top go inbetewwn each plate or bowl, not so much as a sound. Glasses and Coffee Mugs never move around either.
Its a very simple Mpod to do and not very espensive, either. We use real Dishes and Glaass Wear. Have never broken anything so far. It sure works good for us,
It also keeps things from moving on the Dinning Table and the Coffee Table.
Even have it in the Meician Cabinet, with strips of Plstic acroos the front of every shelf/ also keeps everything in its proper place too.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: RV dump station Cap
:H
If the septic is attached to the house all you do is add a clean out to the pipe between the house and septic. 10 minute job and then all you do is unscrew the cap.
Hi All.
This is one of the easist DYI Projects anyone can do. I put our Clean-Out in the Cement Driveway, right next to where our Motornhome Dump Compartment is. I didn't plan it that was, as I did it when we were still doing the 5th Wheel thing.
The Riser is only 2 inches high, wiht a Screwed on Lid.
We built a real Stic-Built Covered RV Port, with full Hook-ups, with a Comp Roof. It matches our houes perfectly.
We live on a corner lot, so our Main Drivway, to the Garage is on one side of our property, on one Street. Then we put in a Paved Drivewaay to the Covered RV Port, on the other side of our property, on the other Street.
We wouldn't ever be with out a Real Covered RV Port with Full Hook-Ups. It just makes life way to easy and simple, plus having the Motorhome on our own property, iis "Sweet".
Good Luck. Happy Travels Dan & Jill
RE: Fuel log app
Hi All.
A small Binder type of Notebook works out great for us anyways. All we ever do is enter the Date, then the Cost, and the amount of Fuel. Keepiing it all in a nice neat rows, sure makes it easy to do the figuring
We have a "Zipper Plastic Bag" to keep all of the Fuel Reciepts in. It makes it pretty easy at the end of a trip to figure all of your information. Been doing it this way for many mnay years now.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: Getting through my gates
Hi Steve & Kathy.
I kind of have the same problem as you do. But ours is due to trees, and our steep Driveway has Large Curbs on both side. I also have to swing wide to get the correct angle to make it in with out hitting the trees on the passenger side of our Motorhome.
Sure glade we have a good Pair of "Skid Wheels on our Motorhome", as it also makes it that we have to take it nice and slow, until we get the rear end up a ways until we clear the Skid Wheels.
We also don't want to scrape any of our Motorhome Tires on the curbs either, as we all know what that does to tires after a while.
I guess after being an OTR Trucker for many many years, Heavy Traffic does't
bother me at all. So with just a little bit of care, just go for it. You just might find it easier than you think it is.
We also live on a very busy street at times. I just do it the easy way, I put on my 4 way Flashers and Headlights and just go for it. Trust me, any small cars or trucks that sees a big Motorhome comming across their lane is going to let you go into your property.
Been doing it this way for many years now. And have never had any issues or dirty looks or comments.
But at the same time, this is a very small town, and in our area, just about everyone kows each other at least by face if not by their names also.
So sorry to hear yoou Scrathed your Motorhme. Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill & Our Yorkie Kids.
RE: New tires - what DOT ok w/you?
Hi All.
The same thing for us. Where we buy our tires, we always get the owner of that shop to order our tires, and gets us tires that are usually less than one month to six weeks old.
We do the same thing for our tires for our SUV's when it tire time for them also.
Sometimes we might have to wait a couple of weeks or more to get the dates that we want, but thats never a problem for us, as we don't try and get our tires at the very last minute anyways, we plan ahead.
We are both nut cases when it comes to Tires & Brakes.
Good Luck. Happy Trvels. Dan & Jill
RE: New Shroud for Duo Therm AC unit
Hi All.
I just replaced the Shrouds on our Motorhome, a couple of month ago, mostly due to their age, and plenty of bad cracks. I wanted to make the change on my Dhrouds on my terms, my time and my schudle, not on the road while traveling.
Both of our A/C's are "Duo Therms", and they are White in Color. And I sure didn't pay any "One Hundred Dollars", or more for each for ours. We also bought ours at PPL, as the same link that Don provided. We got ours on sale, for just a tad over $80 dollars, and some small change, for each. Yes, they are pretty proud of those Shrouds.
It really does pay to shop around before buying. I also got our Shrouds the next day. They are realy quick about shipping items that are on hand.
PPL, really does come up with some pretty darn good "ON SALE" prices, when you can catch them.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
RE: loose led bulbs
Hi All.
I keep a Bottle of Deoxit, in our Motorhome. As mentioned, there are just to many uses for it not to have it around.
This is one Product, that is more than worth the cost of it and then some. Works on anything electrail.
Good Luck. Happy Travels, Dan & Jill
RE: Georgetown 370 - Is there a remote switch for propane?
Hi All.
Just a thought, is the "Propane Detector" Switch is set to "ON". If its in the OFF Position, you won't get any proapne.
Pretty fast and simple to check.
Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill
