RE: Generator/Electrical

Did the 94 winnie's come with a transfer switch or does the SP cable have to be plugged into the generator to get generator power to the coach. I think '94s are on the cusp of having xfer switches integrated into the coaches. JM2¢...

RE: Supplemental Brake Dilema

sNs,
You could install a wired brake monitor, either from the TOAD's brake lights or powered from the BB. The wireless connection plugs provide a +12VDC and a ground through the BB for the wireless transmitter to operate. My wireless was less than adequately reliable, probably due the distance and/or the shielding of the MH. Probably cost me $10 for the wire and LED and a couple of hours to install. I've got a set of wireless tranmitter and receiver that is just gathering dust. Haven't used them in 37500 miles. Been satisfied with my dash light. JM2¢...

RE: Supplemental Brake Dilema

As stated before, I've used my BB for 40K miles. I'm not singing the praises for BB when I comment here or any other supplemental braking system. I am a proponent of using some sort of supplemental system though. When I comment, I try to give the un-informed poster an unbaised assentment of what I own or what could be the issue with his BB. Each system (BB, Ready brake, etc.) has it's unique set of advantages and dis-advantages. The questioner needs ALL of the facts prior to purchasing a unit. JM2¢...

RE: black tank flush system question...

If you can get to the spray nozzle, disconnect the hose and see if there is water flow when the hose is attached. If no flow, the vacuum breaker is the problem; if flow the nozzle itself is the issue. My spray head is attached with three screws and silicone sealant. It can be removed and cleaned. I increased the hole size to 1/16". Re-installed with no further problems. JM2¢...

RE: Supplemental Brake Dilema

Used the BB for over 40K miles and never had a problem with the BB. I did once make the BB adjustment (seat) to tight. Having towed the Cobalt for 35K miles by this time, I could feel something was not right with the TOAD. The MH typically does not even know the TOAD is there, its that easy of a tow. Felt this three or four times at stop lights in town. Pull over to a HD and checked the TOAD. Could smell that the brakes were dragging, not on all the way. Checked the brake lights - not on. Re-adjusted the BB and the problem went away. No noticable damage to the brakes. I do have an LED on my dash that tells when the BB is applied, not from my brake lights. I also use the microphone in the rear view camera when first starting out to listen to the TOAD. I can hear a lot of things, like if the front wheels aren't turning, but this time it was an unexpected tugging by the Cobalt on the MH. Situational awareness is important. JM2¢...

RE: Bolt snapped off but from where??

Not sure where you heard the noise from - front or back. Looks like a long bolt 6" and 1/2" diameter. My WAG - This could be a spring hanger bolt or a leaf spring centering bolt. I would check the suspension, then the steering. If something that big comes out of the engine would be really noticable. Another WAG - might want to check the motor mounts - another possibility. RE: Transmission lines keep "blowing"

The last post by the OP doesn't make sense, but the first thing I'd do is not go back to the Chevy Dealer but to a transmission shop. Second, the transmission shop should check the fluid cooler for clogging.

RE: Problem with Winnebago Sightseer Towing a Ford Focus

The biggest problem using a deep drop hitch is the potential for dragging the drop hitch on the ground. Could end up damaging the MH or the receiver. Speaking from experience. JM2¢...

RE: charging question for Damon Challenger

In order to charge the coach battery from the converter (shore power or generator), the DC System Disconnect needs to be CONNECTED with the connect/disconnect switch. When the coach battery is charging, the BIRD should connect the chassis battery to charge it also, if needed. It does this on my 2008 Challenger. Don't see any reason why Thor would have changed the set-up. JM2¢...

RE: Gray tank empty and not filling?

Been following this thread here and on iRV2. With the OP's last post I've formed a theory. Theory: The roof vent ties into the drain line from the washer also the shower drain also ties into this line. If an obstruction was to occur in the line downstean of the vent/shower/washer drain line this could cause the back-up. Openning the grey dump adds an addition vent path. When closed, air has to travel back up the drainline past the blockage to allow the air to escape when the tank is a closed vessel. Thinking like a vendor, only two opennings are needed in any tank - the drain and inflow/vent. I would want the least number of penetrations in any tank. If the washer/shower drain line enters the tank thru the side port of a vertical tee, the vent would be at the top vertical port. If water was introduces down the vent with a blockage in tee bottom port, water would be diverted to the showerpan. The camera is the answer. My bet is a lint build-up or a small cloth object (i.e., sock) lodged in the last joint before entering the tank. JM2¢...

RE: Brake Buddy

I've had my BB for 4+ years & 39K miles. It's the classic model. No problems that I didn't cause. Had to replace the 12VDC power connect after smashing in the door. I will take a few trys to set the sensitivity where it is optimum. I set mine so that the brakes are actuated only under serious braking or panic braking of the MH. My unit didn't cost $1200. JM2¢...

RE: onan generator only runs with engine on

pelicanpen1,
Your converter should have enough power to keep the generator running. I would guess that (1) the converter is disconnected from the house battery buss, and/or (2) the house batteries are extremely low or are not accepting a charge (corroded connections). DC is needed to power the fuel pump. JM2¢...
