The Jeep should pull that no problem at all. My Chev has a V-6 250hp and tows mine just fine. Although I haven't pulled it loaded yet lol.

They didn't have that one at the camper show we went to but had other ones we looked at and they seemed nice. (well I hope they are nice as I have purchased one) haha
What model did you wind up getting? Did you order the 170 or something different? I've owned many RVs over the years, everything from Pop ups to a new 40ft DP. We are downsizing from the DP to this KZ. We just wanted to get back to basic camping with low upkeep, and have something we could tow with our Chev mini van.
I did alot of research on the KZ line before buying this, and most everything I read as well as people I talked to had good things to say about them. I'm hoping we'll be one of those people lol.

We bought a new Seneca toy hauler back in 07 and wound up returning it to the dealer 7 months later. Nothing but problems with it! We wound up buying a new DP instead.
We may have gotten the one built on a hangover Monday, as I talked to other people who owned similar rigs at the time and they didn't have the problems we were having with ours. I just felt that the overall quality sucked for price we paid.

RE: First real camping trip this weekend
This will be our first weekend in our new TT as well. I should have done what you did and hooked up right in my driveway, but hopefully we'll be ok. We did have it hooked up at the dealership during the walk through and checked all the systems.
May have some minor things to go over, and I'm bringing my tool kit just in case lol.
Let us know how your weekend goes, and I'll do the same.

Just bought a new 2013 KZ-Spree Excape 170
Hi all,
We just bought a new KZ-Spree Excape 170 and I was wondering what other people who own similar units think of them? The build quality seems good and we like the fact that we can tow it with our mini van.
We are not new to RVs by any means, and actually this is downsizing from a DP. We're heading out tomorrow for the holiday weekend with it.
Just wondering if there is anything I should know or be on the lookout for.

Update,
We decided to upgrade to the 170 in order to have a little more elbow room. Even though there is only a foot difference, we liked the floor plan in the 170 better because it gives us the extra bed in the dinette for my mom who sometimes comes camping with us.

Believe it or not, I'm actually looking forward to down sizing and getting back to basic stress free camping.Owning the DP was a lot of expense and upkeep. Kind of took some of the fun out of camping for me.
At the time it was the only way our son Joe could travel/camp.
The TT will be much easier to maintain for me, and still give us the things we need to be able to continue camping.

Hi all,
Lately we find that to weekend at a nice CG is just getting to expensive for us. Being on a fixed budget, it's getting harder for us to find CGs we can afford on our budget.
If you're over 62 you can get a Senior Card for half off at COE CGs. There are no extra charges for pets in COE, State and National Parks. Avoid private CGs as they're the most expensive. The most we pay with out Senior Discount Card is $11 to $12 a day. Is dry camping on Gov land possible where you live?
Still got a couple years to go to hit 62. I'm not sure on the gov land up here in NH. I'd have to look into that, but thank you for the tip.

Oh Vic, sorry you had such a rough fall. Hopefully your wife will be able to use getting out in the TT as motivation to keep pushing in rehab. My DD is an OT and she has told me of amazing things some of her patients are able to accomplish. Prayers for her continued recovery and a return to camping.

Yes 2012 was a nightmare for us and I hope for a better 2013. Loosing our son was unbearable enough, but almost loosing my wife within 32hrs just about put me over the top. My wife Jennie is doing well and continues to improve day by day. I have her home with me, and I care for her around the clock. We have been together 42ys and I couldn't survive without her.
Camping is something we have done as a family all our lives, so I know this will be great motivation for her, as I know she really misses it and it's all she's been talking about.

You prob don't want to hear this but you'll need to replace ALL the tires if your smart. Running your rig on dry rotted tires is an accident waiting to happen.

Having owned both in the past, I personally prefer the aluminum siding. Both fiberglass TTs we owned wound up having delam problems over time where the fiberglass bubbled up, warped, or became wavy.Maybe just bad luck for us but now I'm gun shy when it comes to fiberglass.

Update,
Unfortunately our son Joe passed away on Oct 15th. 2 days later my wife Jennie suffered a major heart attack and stroke. She was brought into the hospital as a doa but they were able to shock and revive her after repeated attempts. She wound up loosing part of her rt foot due to lack of blood flow but feels lucky, as it could have been much worse. She is in a wheel chair for now, but they feel that with rehab she may be able to walk again at some point using a walker. She spent 2 weeks on life support and has no memories of our son passing.Maybe a good thing. We had to sell the Discovery due to medical expenses but I just put a deposit on a 2012 KZ Sportsmen travel trailer. Just want to get back to basics and be able to continue camping.

KZ Sportsmen 16 BH
The wife and I are looking at a 2012 KZ Sportsmen 16 BH .
Would like to hear from people who own one. Most all the reviews I've seen have been good on the KZ line.

I have to agree with Cloud Dancer, the way your luck's been running I think I would wait it out, and get the new Onan part and head gasket. At this point it's only a couple more days, and when your done you wont have to worry about a potential prob down the road.
You and I have about the same luck lol.

My first rv was a 30' gasser, now drive a 38'dp. The dp is so much easier to handle!!! I would be exhusted after a days drive in the gas rv, fighting wind, trucks, etc - the dp drive is relaxing. Yes, be alert, etc - I think you will be pleasantly surprised how easy the transition will be.

I don't see why not? Shouldn't make any difference IMHO.
Also chances are that if your in a CG, you would plug in and not need the genny anyways. That is unless you boondock alot.

That all depends on you and if you feel you would actually use it enough.
We had a choice when we bought our MH of an outside kitchen or entertainment center. We opted for the entertainment center, as we liked the idea of having a tv and stereo outside. I guess theirs alot to be said for either depending on what you feel is more important to you. Only you can make that decision.
I have seen some with the best of both, which is what I hope for if I get one. The last one I saw had a small fridge, small sink, and a shelf with a flat screen TV and the tv had one of those accordion fold out hinges so that you could bring it out of the storage slot and pivot to where you wanted it. It wasnt a huge TV, probably about 19 inch but that is all I'd be looking for and still be able to have a dorm size fridge and sink.

That's the way to go if you can find a floor plan that works for you.I would have done that myself if I could have. My outside tv is only a 19inch but we don't need anything bigger than that.
