RE: Bocce

We play "Jungle Bocce". Similar to Extreme Bocce. You have no specified "court". The smaller ball can be tossed anywhere. Recently, we've taken more to the ladder golf. Both are fun for us.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

PVC pipe is the greatest for racks, stands, or games. I have made a Ladder Golf game, sign holder, and drying rack. They will break down to a small bundle, and they are very light. If it can be made of wood or metal, it could be made out of PVC

RE: Power awnings

Not to hijack the thread, but I just wanted to inject some humor, bear with me. Anyone who had been to a Nascar race and camped knows that the atmosphere is "festive" to say the least. Anyway we were at Indianapolis a few years back, cold and windy, which is odd for Indiana in August. Anyway we were in a Class C and as the camping "field" began to fill up a pop-up set up beside us. We went to the race and apparently it was windy when we were gone because the young fella's in that pop-up began cussing and hollering about someone stealing their awning while everyone was at the track. Well we were the better part of the way through a bottle of Tennessee's Finest Export and St. Louis's cash crop (Jack Daniel's and Budweiser) ourselves. Invited them over to our campfire played bean bags, ladder golf etc.... Long story short (too late) one of us drunks finally figured out that the awning was not stolen, the wind had took it and flipped it over on top of their pop-up.
The scary part...we are all reasonably intelligent.

RE: camping with teenagers

I would not plan too much, let them "chill out". I have made a set of cornhole boards, but by the time I figured in my labor and materials I could have bought a set for about the same. We have ladder golf and that it always fun. If you have the actual golf ball bolos they can be dangerous if someone has a temper problem...LOL....washers is fun too. Usually those stay in storage though and the bikes are what gets used most. If you have a GPS, Geocaching is really fun. We plan some time for it at each camping trip. Just gotta watch for those "leaves of three". There is a website that lists all the geocaches for no matter wherever you might be headed. Sounds corny, but it really is fun. We have seen things and explored places we never would have without the GPS and geocaching.

Ok IM back with another rant
Would I have been wrong if I beaned her off the temple with a ladder golf ball???
Only if you first swapped out the rubber ball for a steel ball. Otherwise it would of been good.

RE: New Forum topic.

Ok IM back with another rant
Weekend of the 4th we go camping. Roads in campground are flooded, violent T-storms the first 1-2 hours were there. I dont even care cause Im camping.
Our neighbore was a seasonal (not that theres anything wrong with that). We are setting up our site and she goes to the front of her TT. Opens the little stone shield over the window and starts to bobmp the front of TT with some kind of hornet spray poison. Creates a huge fog as she dumps thr whole can on a nest the size of a small pumpkin. She says the "nest wasn't there yesterday". Meanwhile my kids are running for cover screaming and choking as hornets and poison fill the clean air that was my site. It's all I can do to get the dog out of the death cloud. She then gets a broom and nocks nest off of her site and it lands on my site. Now there are now trees separating the sites side to side. Just grass.
The next day my kids and I are playing ladder golf on our site. we were throwing parallel to her TT but about 8 feet away. The balls on our set are rubber. we never came close to hitting her site let alone her TT. every 5 minutes she would come around the front of the TT and stare at us for a few minutes until I would politely say "hi, is there something I can help you with". (perhaps you would like to poison my family somemore.) The she would go back in side and stand in the window and stare at us.
Would I have been wrong if I beaned her off the temple with a ladder golf ball???

RE: camping with teenagers

If you'll be somewhere where they can swim, they seem to love the water. With DS's teenage (13 - 16 yo's) boy scouts, they really get into playing cards. One one week long trip, we played Hearts for hours at a time every night in camp. Ladder golf usually goes over pretty good with our kids too. We've not tried corn hole or washers yet.

RE: camping with teenagers

Look up Ladder golf and corn hole. they are both easily built and provide hours of entertainment. Depending on where you go, the pool, the beach, and CG activities usually keep ours entertained.

RE: what kind of toys do you take with your toddler camping?

For the younger ones we keep a small clothes basket full of toys in the camper - small balls, block set, cars/trucks, little people castle play set, play doh, and a few other odds and ends. In a small cabinet we have a bunch of board games - that's always a treat before bed (also helps to wind them down) We also have a couple of camping games for outside - lawn fishing, ladder golf, toss games. We'll also bring their bikes/scooters or the power wheels (if it's allowed)
For oldest DS we have lots of arts and crafts type things, then he brings his DS & bike each trip

RE: Aussie HTTs

Playing cricket while camping? Why didn't I think of that! I'm replacing our ladder golf game with cricket equipment today
Very common here, plus T-ball, badminton, football(all varieties in Australia).
Sort of cute to see very young children swinging their fluoro cricket bats at Tennis balls. Game usually ends when someone loses the ball.
Jayco Australia strength in Australia, is from its aftermarket service, which is exceptional. They will repair in some cases, Caravans after they have just gone out of warranty and treat the repair as a warranty claim.

RE: Anyone Bring The Bean Bag Toss Game (Corn Hole) To Camp?

I like "Washers", we don't get as many odd looks when we are looking for people to play washers, yelling "Does anyone want to play Corn Hole?" is different.....
Jim
We bring our game of "Horse Balls" with us every trip... you could also call it "Ladder Golf" but where's the fun in that?
Now that's funny!

RE: Why I (we) like to go camping

In March we went to Death valley for 7 days. No Television or radio. No news, good or bad. No cell service, no internet, No doom and gloom. And guess what? The world was still there when we got back to civilization. But the lawn grew while we were gone. Oh well we had fun playing games, Tri on a moes, Rummy cube, Gin Rummy, Ladder golf, Sudoka, Up Words. Ect. And of course EATING. Don't we all do that? Eating seems to be the catalist to RVing. And I like the getting there also, I love to drive my MH, don't nessesarly like the fueling up process or paying for it but it comes with the terratory.

RE: Day time games to play

How about ladder golf or bean bag toss, "new" lawn dart game (the old ones had metal tips-new ones are much safer), one of those ice cream balls to make homemade ice cream (you can also make ice cream using 2 zip lock bags), or one of those nerf whistling footballs. We also carry a volleyball and basketball as some of the state parks we visit have a basketball court or volleyball net. In addition, some of our state parks allow you to rent canoes, horseshoes and some other activity things you might want to check out the websites before you camp. Hope this gives you some ideas!!! Happy camping.
