I appreciate the members that post there experiences here even if they are negative to Mexico, it helps keep us on our toes!
I know that those negative posts offend a couple of members but why always defend with the U.S. is worse or it happens elsewhere all the time, this forum is about traveling south and one should not take these posts personally, we all don't agree with our perceptions of Mexico, but should not take offense and always go on the defense.

Counting the days to leave for our 3 months in Mexico

It is important that people understand that these problems are not just endemic to Mexico. Many posts are isolated experiences, hearsay and generalizations. Facts are important.

Second, has anyone ever wondered why we don't have more Mexican members on this forum? They do exist.

I'm not sure if you meant it or not, but it appears that you are implying that there is a connection between items 1 and 2!

Or was item 2 just a random thought (one I've also had)?

I, too, appreciate getting all the info I can about conditions in Mexico, be it good or bad. It helps with our planning and keeps us on our toes.

I do not find it helpful to be reminded that problems exist in the US, too. Those problems can be posted elsewhere, and we are all well aware they exist.

What I am implying is that they have been scared off. We could really use a Mexican's advice on how to handle certain matters, set up local contacts, do and don't of Mexican boondocking, etc.

To you it may not seem important. To me, it is very important.

I concur that we need more local input, but you're going to have to expand on the idea that "they have been chased off". Just what are we doing that would chase them off?

The majority of us are very sensitive about the "Mexico Image" (some a little too sensitive, in my opinion), and I'm not aware of anyone putting down or otherwise bashing the locals, with the exception of the local crooks (who deserve a lot more than just negative comments on a forum that they probably aren't even aware of).

Actually there are a few members who are Mexican. Guz posts here once in a while. There was a young lady with a family that bought a trailer who also posted. She was not scared away!! Fausto (mexrv) also posts here frequently and has on more than one occasion offered to help if anyone had problems. I have met a few Mexican RV'rs. There are camping clubs in the Guad area. None of the people I met would be comfortable posting in English. So my question is: Why would they want to post here? I doubt there are more than a few on this forum who could communicate in a forum in Spanish. Many of the Mexicans who have RV's do not travel. They use them as a weekend getaway. Yahoo has a forum in Spanish for Baja camping if one wants to post in Spanish.

"Many posts are isolated experiences, hearsay and generalizations. Facts are important."

I would like to know which posts and by whom fit that description? Who decides if a post is an isolated experience or generalization? Is there a fact checker on this forum?

I don't see what it accomplishes. When we are in the US, we go to 'General RVing Issues' if we have experiences or warnings we want to pass along. We also read of others' experiences in the areas we are visiting and take them for what they are worth.

We don't respond to a post warning about a spot out to rip people off by saying that problems exist in Mexico, too. It just doesn't add anything to the discussion at hand.
