Wrace,

I like the 36 LED units I mentioned on pg.1 for 9 or 10 bucks delivered. But you would have to either find another bayonet adapter or solder your own. They come with the wiring so you would just need to break some cheap bayonet bulbs and do some quick soldering.

I think the ones you were quoting are bright white. If that fluorescent-like light color works for you, then those may be best. However I don't think they are as voltage tolerant as the ones I tested.

I think your diffusers are fine and help to spread the light around the coach, rather than point it straight down.

The rest of this thread has some pretty good info.

Cheers,
Kendall

Until I can do a proper test with the 36 panels I'll reserve judgement, but I'm kind of leaning toward the 18 LED bulbs I mentioned on pg. 1. If you're in a hurry, I think it might be tough to go wrong with those.

And I just found out the LED Wholesalers accepted my offer of 16 bucks on just one of the ba15d versions (2 bottom contacts) with free shipping! One would think that one could do even better with a bulkier purchase, but this was another experimental bulb for me for the bedroom light.

So is there any inherent advantage in light quality/quantity to a 360 degree bulb vs the flat panel with all the led's pointing straight down?

I ask because the fixtures like the one pictured don't have much of a 'reflector' to channel the light down, where the flat panel has all hands on deck pointed down from the get go.

Thanks
Wayne

I got my LED lights from here . Very fast service. I put two 48 led packs over the kitchen sink. Wife loves them so thats all that matters since thats her work station.

Yep, the only thing about them is that I didn't see any "warm white" versions. But if you prefer fluorescent color light anyway, then this is a good place to get your LEDs.

Personally, for my old, yellow Winnebago, bright white (6000K) light just doesn't seem to fit. I like the warmer, more subdued look for the old camper. Makes for better winding down in the evenings too. But then again, the range hood might be a good place for the bright white panels!

These say warm white and they also have a white

I too have replaced all my 1156 bulbs with LED's and didn't spend any where near what some of these bulbs are costing you all. See my write up here

No real advantage for those fixtures. In fact, I'm sure the advantage goes to the panels I quoted, but they have no bayonet adapter. If you have a wedge (921) socket, or the festoon, you're in great shape!

I did find empty bayonet sockets here for $0.50 a piece. I'm thinking of ordering a bunch and doing some soldering. Shouldn't be a big deal for anyone that's soldered 2 things in his life. And to save like 15 bucks each over the Command Electronics panels times like 10 in my RV is... well... a hundred and fifty bucks. That's worth an ebay PD9260!

Oh, and I did get an email back from my seller. They do not sell the 1156-sized adapters.

THOSE are the ones!

I hadn't found those on that site before, nor seen 'em here.

Good work! Get those! And get 10 for the discount along with the free shipping on 9.

They look exactly the same as the ones I got, (only with the right, dang adapter,) but if they're not to you're liking, I'm sure they have a return policy.

I still might get the Chinese ones to save some cake. Once I got a system going, I think I could bang out the soldering on 10 of 'em pretty quickly.

EDIT: On the power draw question, one reviewer at V-LEDs said this...
"The savings on my battery drain is amazing, the 3 panels I installed averaged 180ma current draw each."

Your setup looks awesome!

But actually the prices ARE in line with the ones that I have been quoting, but not some of the others, I agree.

For a newer rig like yours, I think I would go with the brighter white ones like you did. But for anyone that wants the warm white, those are not them. They're a little harder to find.

EDIT: I still haven't done a proper comparison between my 36 and the incandescent, so who knows, it may be better to go with yours. Some guys are reporting that the warm whites can be pretty heavy on the yellow.

I do know that the warm white, 18 LED bulbs looked very simliar to incandescent... almost indistinguishable.

EDIT: Upon closer, visual inspection (of the photos only,) the ones from V-LEDs do look a little more yellow than my 36s. Who knows if that makes a difference once they've got power to them.

I should be able to do a proper test on mine sometime tomorrow.
