For us Canucks the cross border pricing discrepancies become even more prevalent when you talk about US vs CDN pricing on units. Many thousands of dollars lower in the States. My next unit will come from there for sure. They wanted $ 46K in PG, $32K in Kelowna, and around $22K in the states. Too much difference to miss that opportunity again.
AND yes Gary parts are lots cheaper in the states. Now if we could just get UPS to stop the gouging with their obscene brokerage fees.
Cheers
Chris

Hi,
The one clear advantage to RV'ing in Canada is the price of diesel. It is lower. (usually). Some times even lower than the retail prices in USA.

Canadian businesses are in business to make as much money as possible with the least amount of effort. American businesses are in business to pass it on to their children and grand children.

We won't talk about the two propane heaters we ordered for our cabin in the woods to keep us warm this first winter in Yukon. Although we will because we now live here because of all our years RVing here!
For the two heaters in Whitehorse, $5,800.
Same two heaters ordered from Anchorage and delivered to Skagway via marine transport was $3,023 Cdn. Then we enjoyed a pleasant scenic drive on a sunny Saturday to pick them up, a trip we wanted to take before snowfall anyway. The transport company arranged to have an employee meet us there even though they were closed on Saturdays.
Service in Whitehorse was fine BUT just way too pricey, even though there was no delivery to be made! Kudos to Alaska Mining & Diving in Anchorage.

How about a Dinosaur " UIB-L Universal Ignitor"Board for Atwood Furnace or Water Heater.
This relatively simple Board which anyone who can remember Their Own Name, can replace (Directions do warn to be installed by a qualified person)is usually well under $100 US and in stock at virtually Any RV Parts place in the USA.
In BC Canada They want anywhere from $140~$200 for the same thing.
And they also want $20 Extra just to "Test" Your Old Board.
Plus They don't want to sell the Board to anyone other than a Qualified Installer.
They threaten You with Eternal Damnation and go Ballistic when You tell them that You are capable of doing the installation yourself and will accept the risk.
Of course They needed to actually see the Old Part before "ordering" it! Nobody it seems has them in stock. And I would need to bring My Motorhome in so that Freddy could take a look. That wasn't going to happen!
I had the Old Board in My Hand in a Pink Bubble Wrap Bag at the time which Freaked Them out further as only Freddy the RV Technician knew how to work on those.
As it turned out I was leaving the next day for Our Winter Vacation in Mexico so I just headed South and Bought a Board for $80 along with a bunch of other
Off the shelf Stuff at well below the Canadian Price.
I have given up on ever getting anything RV in Canada!

Hi,
Yes, and don't even dream about a fridge replacement in Canada. The local dealership wants $3,000.00 for a Dometic replacement.

I've given up on purchasing RV parts in Canada. Although Camping World isn't cheap (and UPS brokerage fees are ridiculous) it's still cheaper to get the parts from CW.
The other item that bugs me is the issue of price difference on E-books (that I read while RVing smile smile), the same E-book on the Sony US website is $2.00 cheaper than the Canadian website, and if you download it in the US there are no taxes,in Canada the HST is charged. Absolutely no excuse as there are no bricks and morter excuses to justify the price difference.

And as Canadians we can't even buy from Amazon.com. We have to buy from Amazon.ca with it's higher prices and shipping charges.
