Prospective employers check on job applicants all the time so be aware of what you share on FB. Our GS's girlfriend is addicted to it and caused much grief because she's so immature with her comments. Another GS closed his FB account a long time ago. He said he doesn't need this. I've got old classmates that are kind of mad at me because I don't get a FB account. I see them 2 or 3x a year & I'm good with that.

I choose not to have a Facebook account for various reasons.
Of course they are two different things otherwise RV.NET would be worth billions. Although they work different, they both do pretty much the same thing.

It's all voluntary. I have reconnected with old friends from H.S. who now know I am not dead, as if that mattered. I have caught up on some news with them and generally enjoyed that part of Facebook a bunch.
Clearly some people use it differently, some just dominate Facebook with inane "news" about their lives but since all of this can be controlled by "unfriending" or using other methods like getting rid of constant posting of music videos (who posters apparently think we all like to share) it's all good.
Most of the complaints about Facebook come from folks who choose to tolerate all the silliness when they can limit it considerably.
Completely your choice--don't like it? Get rid of it.

I also choose not to go the social network scene as previously noted about jealous friends and family that can cause an uproar on your actions or non actions....I had four invites to see comments and pictures on individual facebook accounts when this craze started, and I clicked the links in order to view them....
Then this page appeared stating that in order to see any facebook pages that you were invited to....you have to open an account with facebook.
I was like, umm no I dont have to open an account to view anything - 'click' (delete).
I just do not have the desire to have a facebook or twitter or my space, etc. account and very glad as all my immediate family and friends here upon every holiday gathering talk about their social network accounts around 20 percent of the time about who posted what, who got busted, who tattletaled and exposed whoever on the site, who lied, who exaggerated, who put down the grandkids, you name it LOL.
I like RV.Net because I live for my travels as well as the individuals that live for their travels really know the ins and outs upon the areas they experienced or reside at...great advice and suggestions I have learned on places I never been to as I take note, and add suggestions on places that I know as well.
Lots of professionals and retirees here on this forum from all walks of life is another reason I like this site, they know their stuff as this is a well managed site - no ranting and raving as these moderators do not play !
I also like around the campfire forum as there are many topics I can certainly relate to that are posted, as I tend to live in the past with all the memories related to them.
I do not think I can compare RV.Net and facebook as being the same.

I have a FaceBook account and I use to post stuff, keep up with friends & family, and to waste time (as an alternative to here). Just because I have an account doesn't mean I have to spend a lot of time there.

I'm disabled and don't get around like I used to, to visit family and friends so I like social online sites. Some are very informative, some are fun (such as dogster) and some bring family closer so you can watch the grandkids grow by the month. JMHO

well no one answered Sammie, here you go......
Okay pretty ladies, it's that time of year again...support of Breast Cancer Awareness!! So we all remember last year's game of writing your bra color as your status? Or the way we like to have our handbag handy? Last year, so many people took part that it made national news and the constant updating of status reminded everyone why we're doing this and helped raise awareness!! The idea is to choose the month you were born and the day you were born. Pass this on to the GIRLS ONLY and lets see how far it reaches around. The last one about the bra went around all over the world. Your status should say: "I am going to (insert place)for (insert number) months."
The day you were born should be for how many months you are going.
January--Mexico
February-- London
March--Miami
April—Dominican Republic
May--France
June-- St Petersburg
July--Austria
August--Germany
September--New York
October--Amsterdam
November-- Las Vegas
December--Columbia
For those of you that haven't been in FaceBook in a while you can now separate all your family-friends-game friends etc. and even have groups. I really enjoy the games.
