We are planning a June long weekend trip to meet up with our son, daughter in law & new granddaughter and are looking for a nice campground within an hour of the 80/90 interstate. Nothing fancy just decent size full hook up sites to just sit and relax together(needs to be pet friendly) Would love to hear any suggestions. Thank you

there are several along the 80/90 interstate - what town would you like to be closest to?

We are looking at possibly the Elkhart area & will go 1 hr any direction from there. We are trying to find a halfway meeting place(son lives in Fond Du Lac WI & we are between Albany & Utica NY) open to other areas that would be about half for both of us as well

Eby's Pines in Bristol is only half an hour or a little less from Elkhart,We have stayed there 3-4 times when we go to Shipshewana & it's not bad,They have some quiet sites where you can relax. It's on State Rd 120.

If you are open to having electric only I could suggest Indiana Dunes State Park. Just off the toll road and nice. We have stayed at Eby's Pines but were not particularly fond of it. Another State park in the area I would highly suggest would be Potato Creek in North liberty Indiana, but once again only electric sites, but very nice, this is one of our favorites. There is also Shipshewana Campgrounds north and south, we have not stayed at either one of these but if you like or are intrested Amish crafts this is in the heart of it. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the ideas. We have stayed in Shipshewanna for the flea market I`ve been told it`s very crowded in the summer though. We`re also open to places that have weekend flea markets as well if anyone knows of any.

You might consider just over the border into Michigan. June is strawberry season and you're not far from Lake Michigan. Warren Dunes has a nice Lake Michigan beach (between New Buffalo & Bridgman).

While I haven't stayed at this specific campground the RV Park Review site indicates several 8-10 ratings. The price isn't bad either, daily for $29 & FHU's. The site I'm suggesting is called Spaulding Lake Campground near Niles (just a little north & west of Elkhart). Here is the RV Park Review clicky to check it out plus click on their web site from there. Looks family friendly too.

Another note: If you're interested in winery tours and antique stores you'll find plenty in the area between Niles/Lake Michigan/St. Joseph.

in Elkhart there is the Elkhart Campground - full hookups and also the Elkhart County Fair Grounds.
Potato Creek is about an hour from Elkhart (depending where you are) and is a real nice state park with electric only sites.

Thank you, Michigan would be a possibility as well as Ohio. Will check all out. We did stay at the Elkhart campground but just as an overnite on the way to Wisconsin & it was dark so didn`t see much

We have friends who annually camped on Lake George, just north of where I-69 intersects I-80/90. Whether you will be in Indiana or Michigan depends on where you are on the lake, it crosses the state line. For them it was camping (pop-up) rather than full hookup RV living. They may have been on private lakefront property.

Their's was also a "meet the family" situation, but coming from Wyoming, Colorado, Texas or Oklahoma to meet family from SE Michigan, they were a lot more than halfway.

Another good camping place in that area is Pokagon State Park, just south of the same intersection, on Lake James and Snow Lake. Most of the park facilities are on Lake James, the larger of the two.

I don't know of RV resorts in that area, I've found those more over toward Elkhart. I prefer the state park atmosphere.
