I don't spend as much time on the Alaska Highway as I did when I was running it commercially, but I got really lucky just after 5:00am this morning with this aurora borealis display. This was shot from the shoulder of the road just north of the Yukon River Bridge.

Very nice shot, did you use a tripod? It looks like the exposure was more than 30 sec.

That was a 40-second exposure. Although it was on a tripod, it was windy enough to shake it a bit.

I have been trying to see all the Aurora that has been about recently but missed it every time, even the one that was visible as far south as Nebraska! Keep looking up!

I don't see the aurora nearly as often as during the years I lived in Carcross and had just an outhouse for a bathroom. The trick now seems to be to sleep during the day and go for a drive when it gets dark
