There are now hucksters coming out of the woodwork with assorted "fixes" for this problem.
At the present time, I know of no validated and proven fix for the CP 4 problems.
The only known "fix" is the redesigned pump --- and I will wait until the end of the year before I conclude if that pump fixes the issues.
Furthermore, it is my longstanding opinion that no additives of any kind except those that are ENDORSED IN WRITING by the OEM (Ford, GM, VW, etc.) and SOLD by them under their own Brand, should be used.
Use of 3rd party "cures" or "fixes", especially additives will almost certainly be legitimate grounds for denial of warranty.
Ditto for use of approved additives improperly (e.g. overdosing).
Beware of anyone coming around claiming that their 3rd party additive or their gadget solves the CP4's problems.
If that is the claim --- get it in writing from the manufacturer of the additive AND get an OK in writing from Ford or GM or VW to use it.
Or you have no one to blame but yourself when the CP4 fails on you.
And no one to blame when they refuse to warrant it.
The last thing we need at this stage is to add in more unknowns.

If anyone comes across a product or service that claims to fix the CP4 problems.
Please post the legally binding claims made by the product (in writing), the warranty statement and terms, including the state and method of adjudication, the financial statements of the issuing company, etc.

Found one a while ago. It is called "trade the truck in for a gasser". It is absolutely guaranteed one hundred percent effective.

Dear VW, Ford, GM, BMW, and other users of the CP4 pump:
We now know enough about the different versions of the CP4 to know the early models, before the current one, is trouble.
While it is still premature to know if the new DLC coated on one side, redesigned Czech made part will work fine --- until this summer pass --- we know enough about the old pumps to start thinking of acting sooner rather than later.
Rather than a mandatory recall, why not have the customers of Bosch gang up on Bosch on this issue?
A very modest concession that will help everyone is to lower the cost of the new part to a modest level like $200 --- or roughly what it cost GM, Ford, VW, etc. to buy the part at manufacturing level.
This new price would subtly --- via the miracles of the internet --- encourage customers worried about the issue to go ahead, and at a very modest cost, pay for the replacement with the upgraded part themselves.
As the old part will not necessarily have failed --- there is probably no damage to the fuel system that necessitates the replacement of the entire fuel system.
Everyone wins.
Owners / Operators of the CP4 are happy to have a modest priced solution.
GM / VW / Ford is not burdened with the cost of entire fuel system replacements or determining warrantability.
Bosch gets a solution for many customers at a modest price.
