I am going to purchase an exercise pen for my mini schnauzer and need help on height of pen. He is a puppy right now, but should I buy a 24" or 30" or 36" pen?
Thanks for any suggestions.

It isn't just whether or not he can jump out....it's whether or not anything can get in to him. Buy the taller pen. And even then don't leave him outside alone in it. As a camp host I can tell you tales of deer, snakes and unattended dogs.
We use 30" for our Cairns. Some can "helicopter" jump above that, but they don't add the requisite horizontal component, so they can't/don't jump out. HOWEVER, if your dog is a climber and figures out how to use the side of the expen like a ladder, it doesn't matter how tall the expen. Six FEET tall wouldn't be enough. If you have a climber (as we do), I'd get an expen cover (made of wire, not just a fabric cover).
Ok folks, I bought the 30" pen and then I used some sun shade and made a top by putting grommets in it and small bungee cords to hold it on and give Hans some shade. We don't leave him alone in it and don't plan on that. I was kinda concerned how he would like it even though at 3 months he is crate trained. We used it last weekend and he did great. Beats messing with a leash or cable and getting twisted around everything.
