We are going to a Thousand trails park Memorial day weekend. We are traveling with people with a membership. The campground says we have a reservation, but the site is first come first serve. The check in time is 12:00pm. I am confussed if we have a reservation are we guarenteed a spot or can we loose out. Do all the members line up at 12:00 or can you come early.

If you have a reservation, you have spot. With few exceptions (Orlando), you pick your site from the empty ones - so each site is first-come. We have yet to find a 1000 Trails park that won't accept you early. We try to arrive between 11a and noon, because checkout time is also noon, and we feel like we have a better selection of sites late morning. Seems like a lot of folks arrive later in the day.

We've checked in as early as 8am, and as late as 11pm.

Have fun . . .

I am a TT member and will agree with AL. Depending on distance we have to travel, we generally check in before 12am. With few exceptions, TT will allow you to drive around and pick your site. Then report back to the Ranger station and tell them your site #.

I belonged to them for 6 months. After the winter they changed things around at the park we had intended on staying at...and they treated we 3 couples like we were dog droppings. They got my $$ that times but I wouldnt belong to ANY of those clubs if they gave me ownership of one

We are TT and have never given the checkin time a thought. We just show up on the day of reservation and checkin. Sometimes as early as 9:00 am.

Kenbert, a lot may depend on which park you are going to. Some parks are more popular then others so the check-in times may have less flexability. TT reservations site can tell you how many sites are available for that campground on that day.

We have been members for over 25 years and I never pay any attention to the check in time. We have checked in as early as 8 AM and if I have a res I have never been turned away. South Jetty in Florence Oregon use to assign you a site
and if you wanted a dif one, no problem. But now like others say. You sign in then find a site, and you should tell them what site that you or in. If you have a res with the member with you I would not thank you would have a problem.
Enjoy your stay

Our experience is that they underbook. There always seem to be spots available even when we've been unable to make a rez due to them being "full". Th only park we've had this problem is our home park in Calif. Parks like Palm Springs and Vegas are really hard to get into during the high season and they do seem to stick to more strict accounting of space.

Remember too, you're a GROUP so I can assume you would like to camp in adjacent sites. Each park is different as each manager is different. Some, like Medina Lake in Texas, alternate 50 and 30 amp sites. So if you all need 50 amp you won't get adjacent sites. Some managers go by the book and others work with the campers. I would call the park and talk directly to the ranger and tell them what you would like to do. My money is that they will work with you unless it's Memorial Day weekend or Fourth of July, then all bets are OFF......Dennis
