Hi Team,
While researching batteries for my solar/battery upgrade (thanks again for all the help), I came across this on the US Batttery Site:
US Battery's Comparison of thier Batt to a Trojan
Thought you all might find it interesting...

I thought my newer Interstate 232AH, GC2-XHDs, which were promoted as improved versions of the older U-2200 (US Battery made--also 232AH) have this new (first gen it seems) technology, and that they are also US Battery.
The other thread showing that Costco has some versions of this battery at weird specs (220AH) possibly made by JC is really confusing. Even though some others have classic US Battery ratings like 208, 216, 232 AH.
Some ads for the new (from two years ago approx) GC2-XHDs say they are "pure lead" too, which is confusing, as the usuual story is that this kind of battery is 5% antimony. EG, the 6v Exide GC135 226AH battery says it is 5% antimony.
There seems to be stuff happening out there in the real world, and we are not getting the full picture.

Hi cruz-in,
Thanks for the link.
The article is long on performance and short on differences. They don't mention how long the charge time is, nor how much shorter it might be than the trojans.
I sure wish LI technologies were not so sky high expensive. Also I'm unwilling to have to dismantle high voltage battery packs to configure them to 12 volts.

Well here is My side of the story......I had two Trojans that lasted 14 years. I then bought two US Battery 6vs that lasted a year and a half before I got fed up with them and went back to Trojans. I would NEVER go back and I think their claims are bogus.

The Lithium-wishers might want to bear in mind that Li batteries react very poorly to being overcharged.

Memory spotty, but ISTR last year you revived those US Batteries and got their SG back up. (there were photos of red top, white case?) If so, then perhaps it is not fair to blame those batteries for how they got that way.
EDIT: here it is:
renoman69 wrote: Well it has been almost 1 month since I put my 2 US Battery 6 volt GC's on the Battery Minder. I took them off yesterday and let them sit idle for a day. Here is the SG reading now.
It seems that the Battery Minder has done what it claims, desulfate the batteries. The reading is almost 1.300 in all six cells. I will now draw them down and see if my 3 stage smart charger will bring them back up again.
