A friend of mine has a 2008 Dodge Ram 6.7 Cummins and trying to find a hitch for his Rv. He has a new hitch site from Reese and just curious if somebody here already purchased this kind of hitch? Looking for further information before deciding on getting one or if not, can any one give another site we can check out?

I also used that site in getting mine but its a different kind of hitch.

The hitches would be the same for most rigs. What is different is the frame rails which must be purchased separately and are rig specific.

30K... I'd expect to mount a hitch like that on the back of a freightliner... Does he have a chassis cab??
For regular bed truck...
As far as mounting...
There are 4 basic types that I know of....
1) Industry Standard Rails. Like the REESE 30035. They stay in the truck bed with or without a hitch on them.
2) Proprietary Rails/ Underbed Mounts. Like the REESE Elite Series, the Valley/Huskey UBS, or the Pull Rite SuperRails. These can be removed from the truck when not in use...leaving a "clean bed". Specific hitches go with specific rails.
3) Gooseneck conversion... Like the B&W companion. Can also be removed from truck bed. Pull Rite makes a rail adapter to allow their hitches to fit the B&W turnover ball mount as well.
4) The new "OEM" style hitch. I think it's a FORD thing...but other manufacturers might be doing it. The truck comes from the manufacturer with the mounting brackets already installed. I believe the mount is compatible with REESE Elite hitch systems. Other manufacturers are coming out with hitches ready to mount into these brackets as well. Pull Rite has one for the OEM hitch mount.
Most of the super heavy duty hitches... 24K plus...will have a different mounting system due to the weight.
Anyway... I would probably pick a hitch that's more compatible with the limitations of the truck. Unless he's getting a 4500/5500... I'm not sure he needs a 30K hitch.
When you say he's got a "new hitch site by reese"...what do you mean exactly? The truck came with the OEM mount? A previous owner installed some type of REESE rails? What does this look like??? Do you have two parallel bars across the bed with holes? Or just 4 holes in the bed...with mounting brackets underneath?? A specific website??
We can probably help out more if we knew...
Year Model? 2008
Model Truck?
Cab style?
Engine? 6.7L HO Cummins
Transmission?
Axle Ratio?
Short Box/ Long Box?
Anticipated Gross Tralier Weight?

Per the Reese web site (Reeseprod.com) that is a low profile hitch designed for medium duty/heavy duty trucks, likely in conjunction with a hauler bed on the truck. I don't believe that it would have enough vertical adjustment to provide clearance for a pickup bed. It also does not mount to standard rails.
If his truck is a 4500/5500 cab and chassis with a hauler bed, then yes thats a good hitch.

I don't think it will work on a normal pickup bed.

Looks like overkill to me. And probably not compatible.
I think if it was me, I'd save $600 and go with the Reese 16k Pro Hitch or it the 5'ver is really heavy, go with the Pro 20k.

Thanks guys, I think so too 30k is overkill so he decided to go for 16k instead.
