I have a 02 I6 Trailblaxer pulling a #4300 loaded Hybird 04 Aerolite Cub 236C. I pulls good with w DuelCam WD hitch, but a little underoweredIt is a little slow gettig to speed, climbing steephills. No attempys od long steep hill per mountaing.

Would like see pictures of your SUV and Hybird. And your thoughts of the good and bad of you Towing SUV.

I've done so much with so little for so long, I'm now qualified to do anything with nothing.

my Avalanche is the same as the Suburban, with a pickup bed instead of the rear seats and roof.
the Tahoe is the same except a shorter wheelbase.

i think either would be a great choice, with the AFM on-demand V-8 and the 6 speed tranny.
i have the same engine but the old 4 speed tranny and i have averaged over 20mpg driving to Sacramento and back, about 100 miles.
so the newer ones with the 6 speed will do a mile or two better.
and you'll be able to tow at least 7200lbs. or more.

i know a lot of people with the newer Expeditions are very happy and also can get near 20mpg freeway driving. not towing of course.

Never had an issue with our Tahoe in power or stability.
Third row seating has allowed space for cranky and tired kids numerous times. Can be difficult however when you need rooom for bikes and firewood.

I had a suburban for towing our Shamrock 233S, but with all our gear, i exceeded the payload capacity by quite a bit.

Our Ran 2500 truck is much much better, and the bed is great for dealing with bikes, firewood, stinky, wet clothes, etc...

I towed my Starcraft 21SSO at just under 5K lbs with my 2003 Toyota 4Runner with the V8 engine. It did a great job with the trailer and was probably the best vehicle I ever owned. Got a bigger trailer and wanted a pickup so I could carry firewood, the generator and my pontoon boat in the back. Still miss the 4Runner.

X2 on the V8 4Runner. Towed my 195ck like a dream. Even hauled my 26BH with it for a while. Great vehicle, I miss it too.

I'm towing an '03 Jayco Kiwi 23d (4950 GVWR/3650 dry) with an '07 FJ Cruiser (manual transmission). The FJ was only available with a 4.0 V6.
It tows fine - as long as you're not in a rush. As someone who would prefer extra power, I do wish I had a V8 - to coin a phrase. Also, a lot of our towing is in the mountains above 6k feet. We certainly aren't breaking any speed limits going up the high passes. Handling and braking has not been a problem, even with the short wheelbase.

I'm "frugal" (cheap according to my wife), and mechanically inclined (can break anything and usually fix it)

Our 21SSO probably comes in around 4800# and I tow with an I6 Envoy. Yeah, handles OK w/ a Dual Cam but a bit sluggish on the hills.
Actually, we just got back from 1/2-ton pickup shopping.

Pulled our HTT all over the place with our 99' Durango with the 5.2 liter and never had any problems. But with almost 200K miles we just upgraded to an 08' Avalanche with the 5.3 liter and so far we like it as well. I would say with gear our HTT comes in around 5k-5.5k lbs.
I think our Durango did a little better going up hills but the AVY does better on the highways as its heavier and the big rigs do not move it around like they did with the Durango.

I tow a sportsmen classic 16rbt with a 2008 Lincoln navigator. Trailer probably weighs 3000-3200 loaded. The truck does a great job and fuel mileage is great. I used to use a Mazda tribute with the v6 and it did fine, but definately felt the trailer. I still only drive 60-65 on the highway even with the navigator as the tow vehicle.
