We went to Palo Duro Canyon south of Amarillo, Texas as a recent retirement celebration. The trans went out in the truck and had to have it trailered to Ford......still there since Monday and the rv is in the campsite stranded. On the bright side it's under warranty, Good Sam towed it at no chrge and pays $30/day for a rent car, and the park will waive all fees while stuck. So was able to bring the family back to Dallas. Will go back and get it when ready. Everyone and everything worked out great. Just a minor bump in life's road.

Well, you've got a good attitude about it. I'll bet not much gets you down.

Kudos to the campground for comping you the storage. That was very generous of them.

Hoping you get back on the road soon.

Visited Palo Duro canyon last July with the family while heading to Cali.

LOVED IT!

Good luck with the rig.

Since you left us hanging on your truck thread, do they know what happened to your tranny?
Glad everything came out smelling like roses for you

Too bad you couldn't stay and enjoy the delay. Not a bad place to be stranded.

I'm with BB_TX - I wouldn't mind so much being stranded at Palo Duro.

Yeah Lowfly, your original post had a lot of activity on it, plenty of experts . 2005 still under warranty? (per your signature).

Regardless, you just cited several examples of the camaraderie of the RV lifestyle and kudos to them for making a stranded traveler's life a lil easier.

I live 120 miles NE of Amarillo, but do business with Gene Messer in Amarillo. They have a service man that is tops. However; I can think of at least one more dealer that is probably closer. I hope it works out for you. Sorry for the problems, but guess that is part of it.

Thanks everyone. Still waiting to hear about the truck. They did say they had to drop the tranny since it appears to be something disconnected inside the case. I wanted to stay in the Canyon but had a committment in Dallas that was important.

kenneth - I wanted to take it to Messer Ford but Good Sam had to take it to a closer dealer...All Star Ford. A smaller dealership but maybe ok.

Warranty, tow insurance, free rent car and good camp hosts, doesn't get much better than that when problems arise.

Hope they get you handled quickly so things get back to normal.

I hunted Aoudad sheep in the Palo Duro Canyon sometime back in the mid 1980's. It a beautiful area. That sheep head is packed somewhere, and now I've turned into too much of a softy to hunt and kill anything anymore.
