Looks like it's time to call or go online for multiple quotes.

We get the multi-discount through Poliseek using Progressive because we insure both the 5er and F450 with Fulltime Insurance.

That is not the fault of Doherty and many if not all insurance companies do the same thing.
It happened to us when we still had a domicile in NH and had our policy's with Progressive. it seemed stupid at the time (and still does) but I don't think it is unusual.

I think that you get the multi car discount because the insurance co. doesn't think that you will drive one car all of the time so quite often they will discount the price for the cars some to compensate for the additional cars.

Very true.

We also use Daughtery and ran into the same thing only in reverse. We wanted to insure only one vehicle and were given a quote. They ask if we had another vehicle and I told them that we were going to sell it but they ask to give a quote on two vehicles. Said go ahead and the quote for two was cheaper than one!

Sold the truck a little later and when I dropped coverage, our premium on the Jeep went up. Recently bought a second car and our premium is the same for both as it was for the Jeep alone.

Daughtery is a broker so they can do some shopping with different companies, all you have to do is ask them to do so.

I have learned to never try and figure out an insurance company and their pricing policy.

You should also be aware that once you sell the house you will have no need for the Homeowners policy. However, that policy also provided liability protection for your RV.
I would suggest while you are shopping for insurance you also check into an umbrella policy.

Had a similar experience ... we cancelled it all, and switched to Geico immediately. It ended up being cheaper, and we got some refund anyway (from the "other" company) because of the total cancellation before the policy expired.

Interestingly, we then had a claim with Geico, and they were very fast and efficient in fixing us up! Happy customer!

We have Blue Sky for everything but my 94 explorer, too old and they won't insure it.Value of our 21 year old TT is next to nothing but we have $20,000 contents that covers $5000 away from the TT,$300,000 in liability and $10,000 on our storage.

Also a 99 1 ton dually and a 2005 monte carlo on that policy. Cost me about $1300 a year for full coverage with a $500 deductable. Add another $450 a year for the explorer. Here in MN state farm would not insure us at all without a residental address,it was a real pain and an eye opener to go full time.

That's what Fulltimers insurance takes care of...it replaces your homeowner's insurance.

This is the original poster. We ended up going with Miller Insurance and with GMAC for both the RV and truck. We close on the house in 3 days and we will be fulltimers. Thanks for all of your advice. We appreciate the time that you all took to answer our question.

Yes, full timer insurance does replace the homeowners but at certain limits to personal liability, usually in the 250k-500k range. An Umbrella policy raises those limits to 1-2 mil
at a reasonable price for the added protection.
