I recently retracted the bedroom slideout without closing the electric access door below it. Needless-to-say, I caused some damage to the trim at the lower edge of the slideout and to the access door itself. My question is this, before I get the damage fixed, would anyone recommend opening the slideout? Is it possible that there is more damage to the slideout unit than I can see and I won't be able to retract the slideout again? I have a 2004 Itasca Sunrise 30W. I really get some helpful advice from experienced RVers. It makes being a novice palatable! Thank you.

BTDT. Rookie mistake. and sometimes a not so rookie mistake. Without actually inspecting what damage you already have there is no way to say for sure if you would be safe or not.

I've knocked some trim loose by leaving the arm of a chair in the way, no big deal. A few small ringed panel nails is a small DIY job.

If your concerned about damage you can't see, it may be wise to hand crank it open. It you feel it binding, stop and check it out. JMO
