I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day. Thank you to all our armed forces and their families for their dedication and sacrifice for our country.

Thanks to those who are serving now . . . .

However, Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the US Armed forces.

That number is approximately 1.3 million Americans from the Revolutionary War to present.

Rev. War . . . . 5,000
War of 1812 . . .2,000
Mexican War . . 13,000
Civil N&S . . .700,000
Spanish/Am War . 2,000

"Modern" times:

WWI . . . . . 116,516
WWII . . . . 405,399
Korea . . . . 36,574
Vietnam . . . .58,220
Gulf . . . . . . .383
Iraq . . . . . .4,475
Afghanistan . . 1,967

Along with those who lost their lives in other "conflicts" and "military operations" (Grenada, Panama, Mogadishu, Balkans, etc.).

I know what Memorial Day is and my thanks was directed towards those that died for our country and to there families. I know this isn't Veteran's day (that is the day we celebrate our current and past military troops) but they do go hand and hand to a point, so yes the thanks I give also extend to our military member's that could be required to make the ultimate sacrifice at anytime. So again, thank you all so much, there isn't a day that goes by that I am not humbled by your sacrifice.

We owe as well thoughts & prayers to the families of those lost; the Gold Star mothers & fathers, the wives & children whose husbands & fathers never came home.

USS Worcester CL 144

Thanks to all my shipmates that served with me aboard the USS Worcester, I miss you guys, and wish I could contact some of my Buddies.

My crew name was Chick, and I was assigned to Supply.
