I need help identifying if my thermostat is going bad or my circuit board or something else? My water heater will not automatically ignite, I touched the circuit board top connection and if I apply pressure sideways I can get the burner to ignite but sometime only for about 2 mins, sometimes not at all just clicks and other times a full cycle. Electric side does not work as well. I even removed the thermal cutoff to rule that out as the possible problem? If it's a short some where I'm not sure how to test for that?
Clean the contacts on the circuit board.
Look closely at the circuit board, then look at your furnace circuit board. It could be the same one. You could switch them out to see if problem goes with it.
this sounds just like my problem last week. I cleaned wire contacts with a Dremmel tool using the wire brush attachment then sprayed contact cleaner onto them. still, sometimes it lit--sometimes not.
next had wife operate wall switch and I used one of those lighters that you can buy in any store and heater would lite like normal.
I contacted Atwood website & they replied immediately & said to replace ECO/T STAT (part #91447) which I did. problem solved.
part costs $20 & isn't hard to install.
contact Atwood's website and they may have another solution. doesn't hurt to ask.
