Hello...researching buying a used diesel pusher....looking at what I call quality coaches...ie. Monaco,Newmar,Tiffin and Holiday Rambler.....for those folks that bought used....what sort of repairs and short comings have you found since your purchase?...what sort of options do you wish you had gotten that you didn't....or which options did you get that you didn't really use?...if you could post your rig and the age and how long you've had it that would be great...also the mileage you've acheived while you had it....the reason for the milage question...I have a class c Jayco V10 now and I get 8-9 mpg and I see ads posting about the same mpg for a diesel pusher....can those be accurate?....thank you very much for your responses....all are greatly appreciated

275HP empty is gutless wonder.Pulling a toad? stay out of mountain passes.I had a 38 ft gulfstream 330HP and it barely passed the power test
While ours isn't one that you mentioned, it is an older one.
2000 Beaver Patriot Thunder
425 HP Cat
Reliable 8.5 mpg at 62 since we've had it. (~3000 miles)
8.5 mpg since the engine was "born" 53,000 miles ago.
Pretty much optioned out with virtually everything available in 2000 such as washer/dryer, exceptional cabinetry, ultra suede throughout, Hydronic heating, solar panel, 7.5KW gen set, 2000W inverter with echo charger, Girard awning, window awnings, and lots more. Pretty much a typical high quality Beaver.
We picked it up in July last year and put on new tires. Aside from that it's been a few little things but not bad at all.

I am about like Bluwtr49, We have the 42' Allure from Country Coach, and it has been excellent so far. We Snowbird for 5to6mos at a time and like the Washer/dryer, the Hydronic Heat, endless hot water, Residential Ref. 22cu.ft. No problems in about 20K miles. Average mileage is around 7.5/9., I am hoping for 10 when it get broken in, I do tow a 1500 Silverado. Marvin
2007 Country Coach, Allure 470, 42',ISL Cummins 400, TV- 2011 Chevy Silverado, Blackhawk and Brakemaster.
Not one on your list but we bought a '99 Alpine 36SDS last year. I knew the exhaust manifold was cracked when we bought it, replaced it and a lift pump right off and have put 6k miles on it. We are very happy with the coach.
It's plumbed for combo washer/dryer but not installed, we didn't want one so the storage is welcome, full size queen bed, 2000w inverter with echo charger, 7.5kw QD generator, drawrs instead of an oven, 330/950 8.3 Cummins. All we added was 32"/22" LED/LCD tvs in place of the CRTs (19"/13") and replaced the flush mount overhead lights over the couch and bed with swivel reading lights and we're done. One of the biggest pluses was the tank sizes, 100 fresh, 100 gray/65black gives a nice long stay when not hooked up.
We did lots of research on floorplans, options, manufacturer quality, holding/fuel tank capacities, generator types, engine type and power, ride etc and pretty much got the perfect coach for our needs.
We figured we had the best shot of getting the most bang for our bucks by buying an older, well cared for (all maintenance records included) high end coach and so far we are convinced it was a good move.
'99 Alpine 36SDS/8.3 ISC 330 Cummins

'05 Lance 845
'06 Super duty SC/SB 6.0
Upgrades include: StabilLoads, Air Bags & Timbrens,Swaybars
Usually towing an '01 Wrangler, lifted/locked on 35"s or a mildly built '98 Cherokee on 33"s (only one locker)
WE have a 1994 Holiday Rambler Imperial diesel pusher. With 125.000 mile on it.The Thing I would like is a slide. And a split bath room. altho our's is much bigger the way it is. but when we have Guest stay with is they have to shut the bed room door. other then that I love it! And plan on keeping it for ever. I WISH I NEW HOW TO POST PIC!!!
Monaco and Holiday Rambler are identical. Both are made on the same production line, just different names. You didn't mention American Coach which is a high end coach that is still in production. American Coach has high end amenities, rides on Spartan chassis, with excellent factory support, and an active owner group, both on the web and through American Coach Association.
We bought ours used in 2005. We have since racked up about 80,000 miles and still love it. We typically average in the high 8+ mpg with the bulletproof Cummins ISC. American Coach hold their value and are generally easy to resell.
Today is my personal best for most consecutive days alive.
We bought a 2000 Newmar Mountain Aire, 40' DP in the fall of 2009, it had been in dry storage for 9 years when we bought it. (8600 miles) right away we bought 6 new tires, repaired a broken whole house water filter, water filler hose, shocked the water system flushed every thing, changed the tranny fluid, coolant system filter and fluids.
All in all we caught up the normal maintenance and it has run great. We had a fuel contamination problem but you can't blame the coach when you put contaminated fuel in it.
