I haven't had much luck finding any on a google search. I called Winnebago and they said they stopped making them in 2009. I know Forest River made them but not any more. Does any manufactures make a gas pusher class A now ?

Workhorse made the chassis for the rear engine gas pusher. They probably sold it to various box manufacturers.
This I found just with a google of "workhorse gas rear engine".

Currently, seven motor home models are built on the 26,000 lb. GVWR UFO chassis:

Forest River Georgetown
Georgie Boy Cruise Master
Holiday Rambler Vacationer
Itasca Latitude
Monaco LaPalma
Rexhall Aerbus
Winnebago Destination

The problem is that Workhorse UFO was based on the 8.1L. This engine has been discontinued from GM for some time now, which means you are going to be hard pressed to find a current motorhome built on one, as they would have to be an old chassis. Rexhall still has some older chassis gassers available, that might be your best bet.

One guy locally had a Ford 460 pusher but he had engine cooling issues.

Aside from noise, what would the advantage be? Seems to me if it were a good design they'd still be making them.

The one made by Special Interest Vehicles was a very well engineered unit but they were expensive. It was an integrated tubular space-frame chassis/body unit that they designed and built, with a Dodge front suspension, a German ZF automatic transmission and either a V-8 or V-10 Ford engine.

As far as I remember, they made just one size, a 26-footer with a tag axle. I've never seen one in person, just looked at their website. I got the impression that they folded a couple of years ago.
