You're not alone. I've put down 5 dogs and 2 cats for health reasons and had a few who died on their own. I bawled like a baby every time. It is always a hard decision, but their quality of life is what matters. If they don't have it and the prognosis is bleak, the owner has to be strong and make the hard decision.

Please accept my condolences. Your words make it obvious that your heart is filled with love for this precious dog.
It is so hard to do the right thing sometimes but we must, they trust us to, just like they trust us during all those years of happiness.
May your good memories bring a smile to your face...even if... at times it is through your tears. Please take gentle care of yourself while you adjust to living differently... I am so sorry.

Understand. Sorry for your loss.
I too thought I was thicker skinned, but in 2010 I buried in January our 12.5 yo choc lab and then in August our 14 yo yellow lab - I wasnt sure how so much sweat can accumulate just on ones cheeks as the backhoe did all the hard work digging their graves...i mean, well, it is tough work pushing and pulling those levers ya know. ; )

We've all been there and it's never easy, actually it's one of the hardest things we have to do but we do it for the love of our pets. If they are suffering that's the best thing we can do for them.
Hard..oh yes.
I am very sorry for your loss.

Big boys do cry. It's not a bad thing. My deepest sympathies.
