Hello,

We may be making a last minute trip to the Wisconsin Dells. I found several campgrounds (that have good reviews) that have space the week we can go (June 24th - 30th). Sherwood Forest is one of the parks.

Anyone been? Trying to keep the trip fairly low budget. 6 days at the campground would be $250 for full hookups. Probably would do the duck boats or jet boats, a water park and a few other things.

Any input on Activities for a 11 year dd and 13 year old ds....

TIA!!

Did you try the State parks there? Ducks are a fun activity. So many outside water parks to do. We were just there and the downtown is fun to walk. It gets pricey to do a lot of things. Paul Bunyan restaurant is a fun family style food place--we like breakfast best there.

We used the KOA back in '09. May be more than you want to pay but if you're not in one of the waterparks in the Dells they would have a lot of things for your kids to do in the CG.

If the weather doesn't cooperate there is at least one indoor waterpark (Kalahari, I think).

Enjoy & safe travels.

Take plenty of $$. WI state parks charge non residents double what a resident pays.
As for RV Parks. Have been to many up there. Can nit really rate them anymore as had been a long time we lived in WI and been to the Dells.

Pack your food when practicable. The waterparks can be mind-numbingly crowded later in the day, so going early and "setting up camp" is a good bet.

The kids might enjoy Circus World - http://circusworld.wisconsinhistory.org/

This might save you a little money - https://eol.entertainment.com/custom/eol........jsp/content/pages/eol/entLandingPage.epi

I really like the online entertainment subscription because it gives you access to all of the books for only $30.00. You'll have to print out the coupons beforehand if you don't have access to a printer. They're good for two weeks after they're printed.

FYI - Wisconsin Dells and low budget do not add up.

We`ll be up there for the 4th at Holiday Shores! shouldn`t be too crowded, right? LOL

We always used to go to the Jellystone there, but they have priced themselves out of line with everyone else! last time we were in the dells was 05 at Yogi. I think the FHU rate is like $75-100! I`ve done some research, and Holiday Shores seems to be a nice place!

To keep it affordable......yes it can be done, plan on doing just a few things and stick to it. if you get carried away with the tourist stuff, you won`t be able to afford the gas home!!!

We are doing the Ducks, 1 water park (Noah`s Ark), maybe some go-Karts, and a nice sitdown dinner (our anniversary dinner). if it`s cheap enough maybe a horse back ride for my daughter. everything else is sightseeing. Holiday Shores is on the Wisconsin River and they have a small beach/water play area with inflatables in the water.
