While we were on vacation last month my neighbor stated that she saw an article in the Tampa Tribune that Camping World had purchased Long View RV in Dover Fl. It seems that the Camping World at the next exit in Seffner by Lazy Days RV was not authorized to sell RV's so in order to sell rv's Camping World purchased Long View. I do not if this is true but would like to know as I purchased my RV at Long View.

True .
The original deal between CW and LD was exclusive purchase of parts and CW would not sell RV's in a 50 mile radius . The LD land is owned by a third party - neither CW or LD . CW has and agreement with Dusty's RV in Bartow , FL (42 miles) that violated the original agreement and LD sourced parts from other than CW .
Don't know who fired first .

Seems like LD is just afraid of competition. Ever try to get a price from them.We both emailed them and got 2 very different prices on the same unit.Over $3000 difference.

We had deal with LD until it come time to sit down and sign the papers and all of a sudden the price went up 5000 dollars. When I asked the sales man why, when I had printed the email that he had sent me confirming the price, he gave me a phony excuse that he did not know I was trading in an rv. Duh, then why had he ask me what we had??????> I have tried to deal with them since 1984 when they were in Tampa on Florida Ave and have never been able to complete a deal.......My son bought one from them outright and was never able to get repairs done without weeks and weeks of hassles.....

The owner of LongView was recently quoted as saying that he had to dump all his RVs at Seffner or ship them to his Masachusetts store. Overall, not a good scenario for current local owners of his brands.
CW will have that place swimming in THOR products and their other low end brands. Lazydays will still have (some) better brands - and they'll attract thoe customers. As long as LD maintains its brand exclusivity and CW continues offering mostly low-end crud - the game will continue operating on separate tracks.
For the Lazydays-Haters, you won't be seeing any great deals from Camping World either - and CW will need to step up their game in used RVs to compete with LD.

I wonder if they will have a "Store" at both locations, and will you be able to get installations at both locations?

"Perhaps the most extensive transformation will be at Long View RV in Seffner.
Camping World plans to overhaul much of the 17-acre site, add 40 service bays and build its largest retail store site — a 14,000-square-foot facility that will sell accessories, parts and equipment for outdoor life. The property sits almost exactly across I-4 from the Bates RV site that specializes in shiny aluminum Airstream trailers.
The Long View dealership employs about 30 people and Lemonis said they will likely expand to 70 to 80. The product lineup will range from $10,000 trailers to $500,000 motor homes."

In fairness , I have to say that I have not made a purchase from LD , but logic would say that their tremendous buying power would be about even on their tremendous overhead - nothing is free .
Recently , I have looked at several versions of the Sprinter Class B , and am disappointed at the lack of quality in assembly from most of the manufacturers . One that I looked at in CW-WinterGarden , had roaches and many bad parts .
The LongView operation has been there approx two years - I think it was a folded GM dealer lot .
There is a new RV start up in Ohio that is going to do custom Sprinter B's , but they will be about six months away from build . Discussion with them about Electric Fridge , Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries , and 120VAC Induction Cook Top , and other high end product have been productive .
From reading RV Business and other pubs , it seems that Marcus Lemonis is doing a lean and mean restructure / expansion of CW .
He has the ability / experience to get CW stores back to the days of David Garvin , and add the new items as icing on the cake . I would cheer if CW was done right and could be a one-stop-shop for the RV community .

Long view was built from the ground up, I watched them build it and it took forever. I found out it was water retention storage that caused it to take so long....
