1) some cleaning products will cause the detector to go off.
2) I have heard reports that certain emmissions from pets also have caused some detectors to go off.
Not saying these are causing yours, just what I have heard about over the years.

I don't know what type of detector you have but if it is the type that has to be on to run the gas like mine, I think you're up a creek. Lots of things including the fridge starting or stopping or the WH turning on or off could give a momentary drop or surge in power. Some detectors are set to go off with the slightest change in power or gas level. I know I want to change mine out but when the detector was installed, there was no allowance for changing the solinoid out and my detector is an orphan and I have to change everything out but the wiring and gas lines. If I remember right it's about $300 for a complete detector. I understand the need for safety but that's a lot of monry when a detector is about $20 bucks.

Aerosol products under the sink caused ours to sound off. Removed the products and all is quiet. I didn't clean after dark either.

I have heard that they have limited life and can start to give false alarms as they get older. And, as you mentioned, low battery voltage can cause them to trip. We had one that would chirp when the battery got low, much like when a smoke detector battery gets low.

I've had that problem on my last 2 fivers after a couple of years of use. Usually it's just a sign the detector is going bad. I replaced both of them and then no more problems.

Normally they should last much longer than that. But there can always be a bad pea in the pod. There could be some other problem. I would check the 12 volt system voltage when it does that to see if it dropped all of a sudden. I think most reasons have already been covered above.
