It went UP $1200/year from around $1700/year to $2900/year! That is for my coach and 1 auto.

Don't forget auto insurance rates is NOW today driven by your credit rating. If it changes so does your insurance rate. Is it right? I surely don't think so, but this practice is here and its here to stay.

Auto insurance rates may be driven by credit rating in your state, but not ia all states. I believe the OP is insured under NYS law and it is illegal for the insurance company, licensed to operate in NYS, to use a credit rating to determine auto insurance rates in NYS.

They all run your credit. What they choose to tell you why your rates are high is up to the individual agencies.
I have an even bigger problem with why when you sell your house and its insurance is no longer needed they jack up your car insurance?

This post and the previous post have been going on for 2 weeks. The OP was told of many Co. that he can get quotes from. Have you (OP) aquired quotes from different Co. and if so, how do they stack up against GMAC? In my 22 yrs. in the P&C Insurance Business, I have never seen a premium increased with no reason. If your premium increased because of a rate increase in your area, all premiums in that area would have to increase. I can find no evidence of everyone in NY Insurance increasing.

I was upset that mine went up $200 - with Nationwide - GMAC gave me a better quote. Quess we have to move around every year - they give you a better rate with a new policy!
